We need POINTS!

I'm happy with the people we have gotten in the portal, but if they cannot create their own shot, what are we doing? If we expect our little off-ball screens to work again this year and hope someone gets open, what's the point?

So, who available would you have got? That, in your mind can create their own shot if you were the top recruiter for Barnes?

I think having these two new weapons playing within a structured offense reduces the times you have to resort to those dreaded 1 against 5 situations. Also, Dilione, ZZ, Jefferson, Vescovi, and even Mashack all are getting more comfortable to bring the dimension of creativity.

The three transfers we’ve added averaged about 54 a game on their own last season, what in the holy hell are you talking about?
Mid major points. It's not worked out in the past for us. I hope I eat alot of crow this time. I will gladly do that!!!

Gainey:
- FSU: 9 points on 2-19 shooting, 5-8 on free throws, 3 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal
- SC: 13 points on 6-12 shooting, 1-2 on free throws, 1 assist, 1 steal
- Clemson: 24 points on 8-16 shooting, 6-6 on free throws, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal
- Duke: 5 points on 2-10 shooting, 1-5 on free throws, 1 rebound, 1 steal
- Kenn: 19 points on 7-13 shooting, 2-3 on free throws, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal

Total against top 5 teams on schedule: 14ppg, 25-70 shooting (35%), 15-24 (62.5%), 3rpg, 1.2apg, 1spg

Ledlum: BRO HAD 17/9/2 AGAINST KANSAS, oh and Princeton team that made the sweet 16? Yeah he bent them over his knee and spanked them

Knecht: DUDE HAD 12/11/1 block and 1 steal, shooting 43%, 2-4 from the 3 against Baylor. He also had 24/4/2 against a Colorado team that beat us. He would have scored 36% of our points that night. Had a solid game against Houston, he shot 0-4 from 3, we like to use what if scenarios, what if he hit 1 or 2 of those three’s?

Honestly, all the guys we got are really solid. The ones complaining about the haul are miserable as ****kkkkk. Yes I’ve complained the last few weeks, but not even I can complain about the guys who we got overall. Y’all act like the SEC is some insane conference, when in reality there’s only about 6-7 good teams. Insane. THESE GUYS CAN AND WILL SCORE.

35% shooting doesn't seem so hot to me.
I hope his shooting percentage is better than that for the Vols.

You’re complaining about a kid that’s going to be the 7-8 guy in the rotation more than likely

From the last interview I read from Barnes he seems to recognize that D is not the end all means to winning BB games. You still need to be able to score at a higher clip than his current teams can do. Hope this translates to more offense.

Against what kind of competition?

What big time scorers from power 5 conferences were available in the portal that you would have preferred? Love, Dickinson…? It’s a short list and generally when you’re scoring at a good clip for a good school you either continue or go pro.

Segments 5 and 6 of today's Sports Source show had highlights of the three new transfers and they all look like they can score with ease but they will have to play solid DEFENSE for Barnes.

Go to the Sports Source You Tube page if you want to see the aforementioned segments and conversation about the transfers.

Wow, someone who brought actual research and data into the discussion. It is nice to see that instead of anecdotal nonsense. Congratulations!

Im not saying there were better options, or that these guys aren't going to be good. I'm just saying you seem awful sure about guys who have never done it against high level competition.

I have been on the record as being a Debbie Downer about production translating from smaller conferences up, I think if one or two of those guys ends up averaging double figures next year that’s pretty good. My main point in this thread is that the guys we’ve gone after in the portal are scorers, so the original post made no sense to me.

Again, im not saying they won't be good. There's just no telling what will do with an SEC schedule, so it is foolish to be so sure that these guys are going to see the same kind of production as they had before. None of them will be asked to do as much at UT, and all of them will have to adjust to Barnes.

Honestly, my only complaint would be bringing in 3 more mid height SG/SF guys when that's the last thing we needed on this team. We have SG and SF covered. We needed PGs and post players. I get that we needed scoring, but now we are looking at having a log jam at the SG/SF spot and having to rely on true freshmen for depth in the post. We aren't even considering what happens if JJJ and/or Julian decide to come back.

Im taking a wait-and-see approach to next years team. I have serious concerns about size and post depth.
