I'm not here to bash Hopson...but i've had just about all I can take of him...

He looks asleep on the offensive side and the defensive side of the ball. Ducking under screens and letting guys get wide open 3's, too slow to contest wide open 3's, walking through the motions on offense and then with 11 seconds left deciding he wanted to do something. I for one was mad when he took that shot. I just felt like he didn't deserve it. All those guys played hard the entire game and I would rather have JP take that shot as bad a shooter as he is. And his free throw shooting is horrendous which I also don't understand.

His offensive game consists of standing on the corner waiting on someone to drive and kick it to him for 3 which he might make 1 out of 5.

Man i agree but it is over now. He looks like a clown who has lost his nose and is trying to find it on the ball court.

he's lazy. he'll make a nice play on the offensive side of the court to make you think, wow this guy could be so good, and then he'll half arse it for the next 10 mins. he doesn't hustle on D, the guy never sweats, NEVER. how is that possible. i played bball, i can't remember not sweating

the paper already tried to do that and it didn't really work that well. some players don't respond well to concentrated pressure. he'll get over the funk in the off-season and bruce, the one who CAN make sure he improves, will do just that. he's still a young guy and shows a lot of upside.

if you're looking for a scapegoat to hang the elite 8 loss on, i think it would be wrong to tag that on scotty. but some people will never be happy.

I'm not blaming him for the loss in any way but his body language SUCKS! He needs to get his a$$ off his shoulders and get his act together.

There are two ways Scotty can make me happy.
1. Improve his aggressiveness by 1000% before next year
or
2. never play another game a UT

I have grown so tired of watching him play with no emotion, never break a sweat, never take a charge, never lay out for a loose ball, always go up for a rebound one handed, lose more balls out of bounds than I knew to be humanly possible, and continue to get more minutes than he deserves. Being talented is not enough. Just hustle for crying out loud an no one would even care that he took a stupid shot will 11 seconds left on the clock in the biggest game Tennessee basketball has ever played in.

Your opinion of course. CBP doesn't share it. Guess whose opinion matters?

(?) always make a loss easier when we can squarely place the blame instead of support. GO VOL!...geezzz
Bones never lie.
(remember last year it was Maze/Prince/Chism...maybe the kid takes the motivation toward next season..remember when the Cornhuskers cleaned our clocks Peytons senior year?....He is here the next two years...along with the .0002% stupid fans we have that never played/understand sports but celebrate when we win and whine when we dont....)
Yea Witch Doctor said it.

Scotty had about as an open look as you could have asked for. IF his hand wasn't hit on the release(watch the replay) that ball goes in and we are up 2 and get a chance to play defense. Instead he hits a free throw and missed the second. I and any TRUE VOL FAN cannot blame the loss on him nor say they hope he never plays another game in a UT jersey again. Thats just talking out of your a**. Tennessee wins as a team and Tennessee loses as a team.

Good point. Doesn't change the fact that Hopson was the 10th best player on the court for most of our last two games.

I'm not blaming anything on a player, just saying Hopson is probably getting more playing time than he has earned at this point.

There was way too much time left to be taking that shot when he did.

It was just another crucial mistake he made during the game. I simply wanted to vomit after seeing not contest the three that gave them the lead with about 2 minutes to go. That was him just not giving effort, pure and simple.

The big difference witch doctor is their passion and effort wasn't questioned.

Even if he showed more passion, he would still get bashed. Nothing is ever good enough for some of our fan base. They would blame a loss on their dead grandparents if it came down to it. The point is the TEAM made a good run. 1 player didn't make the difference in this game. Both teams played extrmemely well and they both deserve praise. great elite eight game.

WE don't NEED to do anything. That is Coach Pearl's job and YOU have no place to call anyone out. Be a fan, that's fine, but don't get all psycho and start calling players to the carpet when you are not qualified in any way to do that, other than what you've observed sitting in the stands or your living room watching the games...

TNsnyper I agree that our fan base cant be pleased. But this point is valid. Just watch the games objectively and you will see Hopson played poorly.

No one is saying he was the sole reason we lost the game. But pretending like it was good he took a shot with 12 seconds to go and that it was good that he failed to contest a crucial three is ludicrous.

The interesting thing about Hopson to me is all the reports on him out of high school all say the same things. Unlimited potential but sulks, doesn't hustle and has lapses on defense.

We will need him next year but he is, what he is.

((NOT ARGUING) I have seen many post last season/even this season where their effort and passion were questioned by others. I think this kid will step, look how Chism had to step up after Tyler left. Everyone one of these guys loved him when he hit the game winner against the Gators...no questions then. (Witch Doctor just debating not hating with ya!)

Bruce needs find something, anything that will light a fire under his *** and toughen him up. Scotty has the potential to be a pretty good player. And he will be one of the leaders next year with all the young guys coming in...

Witch Doctor, I agree Hopson definitely has had his good games this year, including the Florida game you mentioned, but none of them were in the tourney.

I hear you. The thing is Hopson is only valuable if he is making his shot. If his shot is off, he brings little else to the table.

All of this being said now is not the time for all this.
