Guys, I think many of you have missed my point. I didn't say what coach pearl should do. I didn't say what Scotty should do. I simply said what it would take for Scotty to make me happy as a FAN! I had the unfortunate opportinity to watch him whine, mope, and play with no effort first hand in the first session of the sec tourney. Myself along with every other person in that arena can attest to the fact that he gave ZERO effort all game long. Tatum let Coach Pearl know how he felt about coming out so Scotty could go mope along on the court in the second half as well. I know that happened because I saw it.
I didn't blame him for the loss either. My point was, all you can ask of a player is to hustle. No one shoots 100% from the field or the foul line. He made, IN MY OPINION, a bad choice to force a long range jumper at the rim with 11 seconds left on the clock.
Before anyone disagrees with anything else I have said, ask yourself these questions and give an honest answer.
1. Do you think Scotty gives it all he has
2. Does Scotty lay out for loose balls
3. Does Scotty ever get the hard rebounds.
4. Does Scotty ever seem to be worn out after a game.
5. Did Scotty rush a contested shot with 11 seconds left in the game.
Answer these questions to yourself and see if you can understand where I am coming from.
By the way, I hope whole heartedly that Scotty turns it around and plays up to his ability. As a fan, I would assume everyone would want the same. As fans, the best we can do is buy a ticket and support our team. As players, the best they can do is hustle and give everything they have to our great university.
