So....we can only sign 27, we have 22 commits.

That only leaves us with 5 open spots....(not acknowleding the fact that we can sign and place 3 kids)

With all of the names out there these 5 spots could get crowded....

how do you see these last 5 spots shaping up??

I believe we have more than five. The limit is 28, so that is six plus I think we can back count 2 meaning we can sign 30.

Partly right...we can sign 30 but that means we have to place 3 of the signees...LV said atm all of our recruits look to be good on eligibility...so the OP is correct on only having 5 spots left...

To the question: We will sign 3 OL and take the next two best recruits..imo. If Prater is one of the remaining two than I would assume it would come down to Lemonier, Dorsey, Nelson, C. Jones, or Quarles for the remaining spot... just off the top of my head...

This is all on the assumption that we get everyone in (eligibility) and we don't push anyone out...

We can sign and enroll 25 per class (NCAA limit).
We can back count 2 because we only signed and enrolled 23 last year.
That's 27 total that can be signed and enrolled. We can sign, but not enroll, 28 (SEC Rule) not counting the two back counts.

I see us signing 27 total. Some committments will be encouraged to look elsewhere if we can sign better players.

isn't it getting a little late to tell kids to look elsewhere? seems kinda crappy of a coach to do to a kid 3 weeks before signing day

Yes, that would be a little rude at this point. They might just quit calling them and see if they commit elsewhere.

Of course, players de-commit to teams on NSD all the time so it goes both ways, but it still seems wrong.

We signed 22 last year, 1 didn't qualify. The EE's will count toward last years class. Right?

2 of them will. The number ending up being 23 last year. I know one of the guys added was Lamaison. I can't remember who the other one was.

I don't really see a problem with asking a kid to look elsewhere. If a kid can pull their commitment, then coaches can pull an offer. IMO...

Simms and Thompkins are both backcounted.

We have 20 commits not including them...so we can sign 5 more guys who will actually be on campus in the fall.

The coaches have a lot more to lose if they develop a reputation of going back on their word.

I know we had 23 sign last year but green was placed. So if he doesn't sign do we get that scholarship back? Also were any of the guys that signed last year (09) EE's? If so wouldn't they be back counted on to 08 class.

Who are we thinking are our sign and place guys? Who all is going to be tight on the grades?

we had 23, but, Green didn't qualify and Hood was a academic sch. so that is 21 scholarship players from last years class. We can backcount 6 EE's to last years class. Rule change is for 2010. Am I wrong.

even if we finish with 6 more from now, wouldn't it be fun to shoot for the moon.

Let's finish with :
Green
C Jones
Lemonier
Prater
ArieK
Quarles (NSD Suprise)
Baxter (NSD Suprise)

and lose Ralph Williams to Ole Miss
May not be #1 class but that is pretty sick.

The most a team can back count for a given year is 5...

I'm pretty sure Hood is on a football scholly. Or either it counts as one.

Every number that i have seen from people who actually know is 23 schollys from last year...which if you add Laimason and Hood than it makes sense...

Backcount 2 and that puts us at 20 total so far....leaving 5 spots...

yes its only fair, it seems to be the kid doing the pulling the majority of the time tho doesn't it? At least that's what we hear about more.
