We owe everything to our government

I would say this is a terrible gaffe for his candidacy as it shows him to be more left-leaning, non-capitalist than maybe most independents thought. If I had to guess though, he chose poor wording in trying to say that a lot of industries and businesses have been helped by government investment. That's a true statement. But they don't owe the government anything.

Uh, no, developers/business owners almost always have to build infrastructure to the local townships requirements before they can build their houses, shopping centers or factories.

You're right. I re-read it, there's no way around it. He seemed fairly adamant.

I was going to argue that he's trying to claim that most businesses/industries have been helped by government either through government contracts or research. That's true. And that the poor wording is "Somebody else made that happen." But now that I've read it again, it's hard to take that as poor wording.

The gaffe is using this as reasoning for more taxes or saying they owe government. That's ludicrous. I believe gov't has a role in high reward research that most private enterprises deem too risky or not cost efficient. But you can't use that to back up big government. If he pushes this message in his campaign, put a fork in him. Most independents are still capitalists.

he's also lecturing us. This is y I can't even stand listening to him talk. Everything is about him lecturing us from his pedestal. I can't for the life of me understand why this guy turns people on unless they enjoy being treated like they r 4 years old.

Lou Dobbs is on Fox about to have a seizure over these comments.

Is anyone other than Fox even giving this airtime?

Can't find one mention from any of the major news organizations other than Fox regarding the speech. Several hits talking about the upcoming speech in Roanoke, but no follow ups about his remarks.

Has there, as yet anyway, been any backtracking on this from the WH? You know, "What was really meant was..."

This needs to be a Romney commercial.

Just play the loop over and over and put at the bottom "Not sure if insane."
