after the pac-12 TV deal, the big-12 deal is looking pretty crappy. can the aggs and texas jump ship without major penalty?

Had not heard that about the Longhorn Network getting a conference game. That pretty much blows up the shaky peace right away.

Indeed. Seems they call their shot, and the conference just signs off.

What's stopping us? A handshake deal we made less than a year ago?

A&M is a healthy enough program to where the dollars and cents will add up in the end, regardless. No sense hanging around being 2nd class citizens there.

I'm not sure Ou could. My line of thinking is that we dont need Texas University, but we have to play them. Oklahoma shares a very similar rivalry obviously with them, and I'm not certain they'll have the desire to play two out of conference games between aTm and Ou.

Aren't there enough meddling politicians / powers that be to make sure those games happen?

It seems to me that a defection of A&M and OU would more or less collapse the league anyhow.

If they go independent, which seems to be their goal, they'd almost have to.

I cant imagine them having the desire to play two SEC schools, but yall might be right.

One of my college football goals is to see a game at College Station. Seeing UT playing there would be absolutely awesome.

I had so much fun the week all of this stuff was in doubt last year. I'm still not sure how I feel about obliterating the conference alignments, but discussing it was both weird and awesome. Much time was spent at the whiteboard at work with a bunch of guys trying to sort through different scenarios. Too bad they never consulted with us.

I'd only be down for us adding people if it meant:

Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St

Meaning the conference would look like this:

East:
Tennessee
Georgia
Florida
South Carolina
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Alabama
Auburn

West:
LSU
Miss St
Ole Miss
Arkansas
Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St

Basically adding the Big 12 teams to the West and taking Auburn and Alabama from the West and moving them to the East.

Super conference fo sho.

Another interesting article. Lots of supposition, but the part about a source that's an SEC official, Will Lyles, and fallout concerning 3-4 SEC schools is pretty interesting...

Scout.com: Winds of Change Blowing Again?

--He told me that with all the media attention on the Cam Newton situation at Auburn along with the Will Lyles stuff and other things that “there are other allegations that will come out that will implicate 3-4 other SEC schools”, the SEC has shifted its attention to managing the fallout he said will likely come when these allegations hit.--

I'm still sticking with it. The Big 12-2 will implode in the next 5 years and Texas A&M will join the SEC.

Just bring OU when you come.

Conference "battle" is all about markets and money. (IMHO) they should bring the school holding both the St. Louis and Kansas City markets

don't want anything to do with the cowpokes. The Sooners would be an okay choice if Tejas didn't want to come, but I'd rather get aTm, Tejas, FSU, Miami/Va Tech/Clemson/Ga Tech/UNC than any of the Oklahoma schools... just can't imagine any SEC folks wanting to make those drives.
