We revisit the realignment discussion:

If the Big 12 doesn't straighten up and fly right with their lopsided revenue sharing, etc., then I could see the SEC being approached by A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri, and quite possibly another (Kansas, KSU, or Tx Tech) to join the SEC...

The down side to this for the SEC is that it sets up either two 8 team, or four 4 team divisions...basically it would boil down to our SEC Champ having to play extra games against much harder competition than whomever they would face in the BCS title game...our champ would potnetially have to be 14-0 against, say a Big 10 champ that would only have to go 10-0...The odds would be against our champ in teh BCS game (i.e. less rest, more injuries, etc.).

That's why if the SEC expands, I hope it is just with two schools with one of them being A&M with either Oklahoma or Mizzou.

The common consensus/thought is that the whole reason for this "longhorns sports network" is a first step to serve towards (if as successful as they think it can be) eventually becoming independent

That's about right, the Texas ego is too large to work within the constraints of a conference. They never learned how to share, and ironically, it's that selfishness that may ultimately leave them weaker (no conference).

Or it could end up bringing in their usual loads of money, loads of money they don't have to split with anyone else, including the bowl games (just like notre dame)

Really though, they're realistically the only school other than ND with a fanbase large enough to support them working as an independent....it's why all the conference expansion eventually centered on them, the program's football team is an absolute cash cow (one of the largest)

I could see the sec adding teams, but I dont think they would drop anyone.

It is always possible that somebody like Arkansas would leave on their own. God knows what LSU is likely to do.

What does Vandy bring to the table other than academics and the city of Nashville?

You should probably take another look at the programs that don't involve 85 person rosters.

Expect something to happen. OU, Okie Lite and TAMU won't stand idly by to be made the little sisters of the conference while TU gets to dictate how things are run, and TU won't voluntarily give up their massive slice of the pie. They would just as soon follow BYU's lead and go independent.

Short of the Texas state legislature forcing the conference to stay together with new, even revenue sharing practices, the BXII is already dead and it's a matter of time.

I'm most curious about what happens to the other schools (Baylor, TTU, KU, KSU, ISU) given that TU, TAMU, OU and Ok St will all find homes.

What could possibly happen if/when this big conference realignment business goes down is that Texas and Notre Dame will find themselves shunned by the schools in the superconferences, leaving them unable to schedule a decent opponent and hurting them in the long run.

Notre Dame's NBC deal doesn't really seem to have helped them. Texas, much to their chagrin, isn't bigger than college football. They can make money, sure, but without a strong conference ultimately they become weaker. Can't be the best without competition.

Easy to understand why the rest of the legacy SwC and current Big 12 (10?) hate Texas so much.
