We were the best team in the country this year...

I loved our team this year but they were Jekyll and Hyde all year. We would have games where I thought we might be the best team in the country (and probably were for that game) but then the next game we could not hit the backboard with the ball. We have not had a pure shooter in a while that you could count on when the game was on the line.

I dont think it was game plan. They made open shots, we didn't.
They locked down our shooters. We had no answer for that plan.
They gave the big man the green light to shoot the three all night knowing he could stroke it. We had no answer for that.
They played better on defense we had no answer for that.
I don't think those things were luck. I believe they had a great game plan. We had no answer.

We had no real scoring presence inside after Olivier went down, which leaves you at the mercy of our 3 point shooting. Barnes was trying to build something there but after that injury, the 3's started raining and we started winning. We won right up to the game where they stopped falling. It can be done with a 3 point heavy team just more difficult.

We had plenty of open looks that weren’t even contested.

Had we made a couple of those early on, we would have won the game.

Give Michigan some credit but we mostly beat ourselves.

We ran UNC out of the gym when we played them. That said….it has been over 4 minutes since Kansas scored a FG with 50 seconds left…are KANSAS fans calling for Self to be fired yet???

Pretty lame quotes:

1. Self has 4 Final 4s and 2 Natties
2. Villanova ran us out of the gym when we played.

Your point is?

Watching these teams in the final four, and I think this was our year. We just got screwed by mis-seeding and we ran into a Michigan team that played their game of the season against us.

That giant douche Dickinson would have fouled out easily had we had a Kentucky jersey. And honestly, we should have been on UNC’s path had we been appropriately seeded.

Would love for us to drop a serious lawsuit on the selection committee to prevent this bogusness from ever happening again.

Legit we should be watching the Vols tonight...

Just this, you are wrong in my opinion. The biggest problem we would have had moving up the ladder toward the top two was our bigs just weren't good enough. Too slow. Fulky just not big enough (bulk) to hold up inside with most of these big guys. Not sure we could shoot good enough to hang with a team who plays defense as well as we did. Just not there yet.

Our problem (all year) is that we were a one trick pony. Our defense was phenomenal, and when the outside shots were falling, we were not going to be outscored. When a bad shooting night came around, we could lose to a lot of teams.

AND there were several of them.

It’s a tough tournament. Typically you can’t have a bad game and still survive. We were ice cold against Michigan and still lost by only a few buckets. Just needed a few more to drop but it didn’t happen. I’ve moved on.

No need to moan about it cause it's like this every year. Don't know why all of a sudden UT fans are just realizing the reality of the tournament. I used to get bashed whenever UK lost in the tournament and said it's just part of the sport.

Kansas won the title but has had quite a few years where they lose really early on to bad teams. You just have to hope as a program you can put it all together for a deep run once every few years. Very few programs ever go to multiple final fours or even elite 8s repeatedly.

We had a really good team, but we were not the best team in the country by far. We did not kick things into another gear like the great teams do in tournament time. Hopefully we'll get there.

I watched a lot of March BB, and the teams that advanced the most
had a dominant Big Man. That’s what won it for Kansas last night
and that’s what knocked us out of the tournament.
That was our weakness.

For years, the NCAAT has been a place for guard oriented teams to advance. So TN probably has their best backcourt in history. Just our luck, now the NCAAT favors the big uns once again.

Eh. I don't think anything structurally changed about what it takes to win. We had a team that was poised to make a run and just didn't.

I agree. I think Aidoo can develop in to that for us.

You need both inside and outside talent--UNC and Kansas had both. And of course, as in every game, you need to make shots, which
is a function of your players and the game they're having and the defensive prowess of your opponent. UNC struggled to score in the 2nd half last
night, Love had a terrible shooting game after being brilliant all tournament, and they lost the natty. Not getting Manek some shots hurt the Heels in the 2nd half. He had a first point in last half on a FT with 3 minutes remaining.

People point to offense, and we weren't at our best, but I point to defense. We never had an answer for them.

I still think 5 games in 9 days took it's toll. I also think we didn't do well on a short turnaround. We just weren't 100% locked in.

See the Michigan game for example.....
We did not match up well with a dominant big , a team that played good defense and were quick.
Michigan was basically UT but with a big man.

Heard yesterday that Self will probably retire in next 2 years and that the investigation will be delivered more than likely after his departure. Sad but true.

Seeding is the key to all tournaments. It was a poorly seeded tournament and not balanced between Regions.

Officiating will also always play into the mix when you have crews from different conferences that call differently based on the standards that are used during their seasons. Officials interpret the rules differently and there is no standard. A foul in one league is not a foul in the other. This usually balances out because at the end of a game the officials will call closer contact.

Lawsuit --- Lots of Luck can't sue ignorance....Mis-seeded is basically a lack of standards and consistent evaluation tools. Plus the fact that the NCAA uses Administrators vs Ex Coaches and previous Athletes to determine the seeds. Again, the standards are made to fit the Seeds.

Under Investigation--- Probation and no tournament until cleared. So the sacrifice is made at the fans expense. NCAA Plays the Bluebloods and seed the Bluebloods that shows that if you cheat it makes no difference because of the $$$$ involved. Win the tournament and we will take your banner away 2 to 5 years later and put an asterisk besides your Championship.

This year had too many story lines but basically set up for Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona or another one or two blueblood programs to hit the final 4. Kansas had the weakest bracket.

North Carolina was hot and as I watched them had no idea how we beat them by 18 although it was early in the season. I can't stand any of those teams listed above and believe that they have been given gimmies most of the tournaments in the past.

NCAA and committees are corrupted by the blueblood programs in basketball. I am sure that their are fans that will say the opposite and some will agree.

It is what it is.

We had the backcourt but the frontcourt needed more development. JF played his heart out but I do believe Covid twice took his game. Where is a Grant Williams type player when you have all the others. Just no go to guy at the moment.

Several teams blew UNC out of the gym this year. They just turned it on at the right time.
I was being sarcastic. UNC clicked right at that Duke game from there on out.
I was poking this fan base with SELF dialing in great offensive sets, his players missing shots at the rim….like our Michigan game BARNES called a great game but our guys went cold regardless who shot it…and folks on here calling to fire him.
