Hypothetically speaking, if we beat Georgia, we should be a shoe-in for the playoffs. That being the case, would we play in the fiesta bowl?

I think the most accurate poll is the Football Power Index

And I agree that the weight a pre season poll has at this point in the season is kind of dumb. Stats and analytics don't lie. The algorithm could be biased, but I believe they are made to try to remove bias.

The power index is not good predictor for playoff rankings in my opinion.

The playoff rankings is week to week of the best teams so far.

The power index uses what has happened to predict what “could” happen. Predicting a teams “possible” future loss should have zero impact on their “today” ranking. It’s all subjective. That’s why Texas is so high. Based on the input they believe Texas could beat most teams on a neutral field………however real life shows otherwise.

Resume……..what you have actually done on the field should matter the most.

Look at SOS, SOR, the AP combine those with some known bias and hype and that should give folks a pretty good understanding of the rankings (in my opinion).
