Facebook, Google Pour Big Money into Lobbying Congress While Blacklisting Conservatives

Facebook and Google increasingly influence Congress as the social media giants censor conservative and alternative voices, dominate the Internet, and violate Americans’ privacy.

Facebook announced on Thursday that they have banned several conservative personalities such as Infowars host Alex Jones, Infowars contributor and YouTube personality Paul Joseph Watson, journalist and activist Laura Loomer, and Milo Yiannopoulus. The social media giant also banned Louis Farrakhan from its platforms.

Facebook said that they banned these personalities because they were “dangerous.”

If Farrakhan is Banned, Why Aren’t Snoop Dogg and Sadiq Khan?

Not enough people know this.

London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, once represented the Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan – recently banned from Facebook and Instagram during the Day of the Long Knives purge.

Before he became the worst mayor London has ever had, Khan was a lawyer. As the Chicago Tribune put it, he was “very much in Farrakhan’s corner… [during] an attempt to overturn the British government’s long-standing ban” on the man who called Jews “bloodsuckers”.

Khan – one of the most outspoken anti-Trump voices in British politics – wanted the decorated anti-Semite in Britain, but not the elected leader of the free world.

The tool asks users for screenshots and links regarding specific enforcement actions, specifying Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube as platforms of interest. (None of the companies immediately responded to a request for comment.) The tool also collects significant personal information from the user, and near the end invites users to opt into email newsletters from President Trump, “so we can update you without relying on platforms like Facebook and Twitter.” A separate question points users to an extensive user agreement, and makes clear that “you understand this form is for information gathering only.”

China banned millions of people with poor social credit from transportation in 2018
China banned people from buying plane or train tickets 23 million times last year because their social credit scores were too low, according to the Associated Press, which obtained a copy of a government report.

The government rolled out the travel ban on people with low social credit scores last May. According to a report from China’s National Public Credit Information Center from last week, people have been blocked 17.5 million times from purchasing airplane tickets, and 5.5 million times from buying high-speed train tickets. These people had become “discredited” for unspecified behavioral crimes. That’s up from only 6.15 million citizens being blocked from taking flights as of 2017, according to China’s supreme court.

As part of the system, the Chinese government also employs a public blacklist of those who have been found guilty of crimes in court and punishes them partly by limiting their ability to buy plane and train tickets.
