Tennessee up to #7
Tennessee up to #7
This is not true that 5-8 get home playoff games. Not when you have SMU and Miami and Boise St two of which will most likely be conference champs ranked behind us.Penn State 4th is still a joke.
5-8 get home playoff games. It’ll be interesting to see if it works out for us cause Neyland would be insane.
I wonder if those who lose the Big10 or SEC championship games will drop because they are likely above us now
Ohio State would most likely still be ranked above Tennessee if they lost to Oregon in the B10 title game. They’d have a better record and their two losses would be to the number one ranked team in the country. Also, the committee may not punish UGA for losing in the title game. This is not true that 5-8 get home playoff games. Right now as it stands Tennessee will not get to host.
What UT needs is for Ohio State to lose big in the B10 champ or for Georgia to take a 3rd loss in the SECCG. Then Tennessee will get to hose a game.
In that case it would be impossible for Tennessee to get to host no matter what happens.Ohio State would most likely still be ranked above Tennessee if they lost to Oregon in the B10 title game. Tennessee has knocked out the opposing QB in 9 of 11 games. If that trend continues and we play Indiana, we might see Tayven Jackson in a playoff game in Neyland. Who saw that happening before the season?I’m just about certain our first round will be Indiana in Knoxville.
And THAT…..would be awesome.

Right now as it stands Tennessee will not get to host. The hosting teams would be OSU, PSU, ND and UGA

If OSU wins the B10 and Georgia beats Texas then we are double hosed.
The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded Nos. 1-4 and receive a first-round bye. Seeds 5-12 will play each other in the first round. The higher-seeded teams will play host in their first round games.
Miami and SMU are both ACC, so only one will be a conf champ. This is not true that 5-8 get home playoff games. Not when you have SMU and Miami and Boise St two of which will most likely be conference champs ranked behind us.

Really just need USC to beat ND, and/or Maryland to beat PSU this next week. Also, A&M could beat Texas too, but not sure if they drop Texas below us, simply because they weren't when we both had 1 loss. This is not true that 5-8 get home playoff games. I believe it IS true. Conference champs ranked outside the top 4 do not get a guaranteed home game. Top 4 conf champs get a bye and then 5-12 are based solely on seed for home games
How the new 12-team College Football Playoff will work
The top level of college football is adopting a 12-team postseason format this season for the first time. Here's how the field will be decided and when each game will be played.sports.yahoo.com
I think the only thing that can guarantee that Tennessee will host a game is if UGA loses the SECCG. If OSU loses the B10 I don't think they drop below us. That makes no sense. Georgia is ranked right above us. If they beat Texas they get an automatic bye and Texas will not drop below us in the rankings almost guaranteed.Wrong. Tennessee doesn’t need much help. We will host. The most likely outcome for us is Georgia beats Texas and Texas drops below us.
WE WILL HOST A GAME. RUN AND TELL DAT
