Week 14 AP Poll: UT #7

I understand that we are just fans, but if the program thinks Penn State is a cream puff, I’m telling you now Tennessee will get ran out of the building.
It's the playoffs. IF we're fortunate enough to make the playoffs, any team in the field can beat us.

Penn State stays at 4 after squeaking by mighty MINNESOTA? If that was Tennessee, we'd drop in the rankings, much like we did after beating Florida. The biases is a joke

We really have to wait until Tuesday when the CFP rankings are released before we can speculate on hosting. You can't base "what ifs" on the AP and Coaches polls. The only poll that counts is the CFP poll.

If A&M beats Texas(and we beat Vandy, they will have an identical record at 10-2. Both teams played 7 common SEC teams with the only difference being us at home vs. Bama to their @A&M. Both teams lost to Georgia, them by 15 at home and us by 14 on the road. Their other loss would be @ A&M while ours was @ Arky. Their best win, outside of the teams we both beat, would be @Michigan(likely 6-6) and home vs Colorado St(8-4 or 7-5 G5). Ours would be home vs. Bama and neutral site vs. NC State(6-6 P4 if they can beat UNC). I think it would be a difficult sell to compare the two resumes and rank them higher.
What about A&M? It would be a 4 way tie between Georgia, Texas, and A&M, and Tennessee?

Georgia is in already.

Texas does not have a win over a ranked team. Another sound loss to Georgia should send them near 10th.

I dont think A&M will stay ranked with another loss either.
It definitely possible for Texas to fall that far but I don't know that they will end up ranking them below Tennessee when they have been at the top of the SEC all year. But we will see I guess.

Big 10 bias is a real thing.
Not really bias. They punished Indiana pretty good for losing 1 game. If PSU somehow lost they would fall all the way out of the playoffs but you can't really argue a 1 loss team from a power conference doesn't belong even if their schedule was weak.

This is not true that 5-8 get home playoff games. Not when you have SMU and Miami and Boise St two of which will most likely be conference champs ranked behind us.

Right now as it stands Tennessee will not get to host. The hosting teams would be OSU, PSU, ND and UGA

What UT needs is for Ohio State to lose big in the B10 champ or for Georgia to take a 3rd loss in the SECCG. Then Tennessee will get to host a game.

If OSU wins the B10 and Georgia beats Texas then we are double hosed.
Not if Notre Dame loses @ USC. If UGA and Ohio State win their conference championships, then TN will most likely be on the road sitting @ #9.

Top four conference championship winners get a bye regardless of record:

Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, ACC

Literally nobody in America thinks PSU and ND are better than UGA but for the appearance of impartiality, we’ll keep pretending that strictly the numbers next to their name matters.
A dialed in UGA is probably the best team in the country. Easy way to make sure UGA wins another national championship...put them in front of UT again so they can play their best game of the season. If we got the UGA that's rolled out there for about half their games, we'd be in SEC CG running.

Bama? Seriously

These predictions are as of Sunday, Nov. 23.

  1. Oregon (11-0) LW: 1 — Oregon stays at the top after a bye.
  2. Ohio State (10-1) LW: 2 — Ohio State strengthened its hold on No. 2 after another top-five win.
  3. Texas (10-1) LW: 3 — Texas defeated Kentucky and will remain the highest-ranked SEC team.
  4. Penn State (10-1) LW: 4 — Penn State escaped Minnesota with a win. Even though it wasn't pretty, the Nittany Lions will stay at No. 4.
  5. Notre Dame (10-1) LW: 6 — Notre Dame could argue to move into the top four after a dominant ranked win against Army, but I think the committee will keep the Fighting Irish fifth after comparing ranked losses.
  6. Miami (Fla.) (10-1) LW: 8 — Miami defeated Wake Forest and will move above teams that lost last week.
  7. Georgia (9-2) LW: 10 — Georgia beat UMass and will move up this week.
  8. Tennessee (9-2) LW: 11 — Tennessee is back in the playoff picture after a shutout of UTEP.
  9. Indiana (10-1) LW: 5 — Indiana falls to No. 9 after its first loss. It's behind some two-loss teams with better wins, but with only one loss the Hoosiers stay in the top 10.
  10. Boise State (10-1) LW: 12 — Boise State beat Wyoming by four points. That close victory keeps it behind Indiana, even though its UNLV win is better than any win from the Hoosiers.
  11. SMU (10-1) LW: 13 — SMU is finally into the playoff bracket now that two more SEC teams have three losses.
  12. Alabama (8-3) LW: 7 — Alabama will be the highest-ranked three-loss team

Penn State has the better roster than Tennessee with future NFL players all over their roster, and a very good coaching staff. If the TN players and coaches overlook Penn State, they would absolutely get ran out of the building.

Nobody is saying we should overlook Penn State and think we will thrash them just because we show up but if you think playing against Penn State is anywhere near playing against GA when they are playing for their lives or even Alabama for that matter, I dont know what to tell you. And thank God Ol Miss is out.

It’s disgusting. We gotta pull for every team ahead of them and a couple of 2 loss teams behind them. I’m ready for the door to close on the Gumps. It’s sickening at this point.
