Week 9 AP Poll (10/20/2024) - Vols up to #7

Kentucky's gonna be another Arkansas. We obviously should beat them , but we better show up more prepared than we were that week.
If it was at Kroger, maybe. Lately they play us tough there. But this is the semi-annual Haunting of Kentucky. Dark mode game most likely. We will be coming off a bye after hitting our stride offensively in the second half yesterday. If our boys don’t eviscerate the Mildcats, I will be surprised.

How is OSU ahead of Miami? And surprised we are ahead of LSU - guess our loss was not as bad as theirs?
OSU’s one loss looks a lot better than Miami’s last three wins. Miami is fraudulent as all hell. There are middle of the road SEC teams that would beat them by multiple scores.

A few thoughts on my end:

Iowa State should NOT be anywhere near the top 10. They haven't played anyone decent yet except Iowa. However, BYU should be there. BYU has played and beaten some of the stronger Big12 teams. Iowa State has not.

Miami should be higher.

Georgia at #2 was right. Penn State hasn't played a real good team yet.

Not sure why Boise State is ahead of Pittsburgh, Illinois, Army, or Navy. Their claim to fame is almost beating Oregon.

Vandy is in the top 25!!!

Everyone in the SEC is sleeping on LSU and Texas A&M. Both are undefeated in SEC play. I think the issue is that both had bad week 1 losses (especially LSU).
Agree with everything you said except for the part about Miami needing to be higher. Have you watched their last three games? They have been on the receiving end of very controversial calls that benefited them greatly. The horrible call against Virginia Tech literally gifted them the win. Miami’s defense is horrible. They would lose 4-5 games in the SEC. QB is legit though.

If Missouri keeps winning they may drop out of the poll completely.

And who voted for Nebraska after they got depantsed this weekend?

What are people’s thoughts on Indiana and their ranking?
I think Curt Cignetti is a heck of a coach and they are ranked about where they should be. Haven’t played a tough schedule but are 7-0, leading the B1G, and eviscerated a one-loss Nebraska team, doing so with their starting QB on the bench for the 2nd half. Indiana’s schedule sets up favorably as the only game in which they’ll be underdogs is at Ohio State in late November. At 11-1 I think they make the playoff; at 10-2 they do not.

They could play in the B1G title game.

I keep an eye on them cuz I was born and raised in Indiana and I’m flabbergasted. They’re talent level recruiting wise is SO bad so he’s killing it as a coach.

Do you think they make it if they finish 11-1 and lose in the big ten title game so 11-2?

Tayven Jackson finished the game for them. He has been complimentary about his time at Tennessee, left for a better shot at playing time back in his home state. He’s going to get that chance this weekend.

They destroyed Nebraska 56-7 and the Huskers are having a good season. Dismantled UCLA 42-7.

They play Ohio State and Michigan in the coming weeks. Washington this weekend. They'll have a chance to prove their worth. But keeping it real...they look good. Both sides of the ball.
Tayven Jackson is playing his part there and playing good ball from the backup QB spot.

Looking forward to seeing where that team goes
