Welcome to Rocky Top Evina Westbrook

how dare MR for being back home in Oregon visiting during the holidays instead of busting it in the gym.... :p

The projection I have for next years team is starters Russell, Diamond, Green, Nared, and Hayes. Off the bench with Cooper, Westbrooks, Davis, and KK. Middleton next then after that a lot of pine time for Dunbar and Harris.

Diamond is leaving this year esp with y'all fans .. y'all want her to stay but been dogging her out all season smh . It would be smart of diamond to leave Mercedes will stay

Whether DD decides to stay or go....I think fans will be a nonfactor in that decision.

Dude Cooper is a baller no way Hayes starts over Cooper. Those high shcool highlights dont mean nothing once you go to collegiate level. Cooper can flat out ball she will be starting next year. Cooper, Diamond, Nared, Green and Russell.

Not definite Cooper was a turn over machine as a freshman and got benched several times. I hope she has improved but no one can guarantee she will be the starter. She may start out the starter but I expect she will get no more time than Hayes and if she turns it over like last year and shoots it like last year she will lose the job.

As freshman 37 percent from the field, 26 percent from the three, 97 turnovers and 74 assists. I don't think those are a guaranteed starters stats.

I hate when people do that too. High school is totally different from collegiate level. They look at youtube videos and immediately think they are going to start. LOL

Freshmen that have started. Russell, Burdick, Massengale, Stricklen, Parker, Graves, Cooper two years ago, Deshields at NC, Kelley Cane, and that is just a few Tennessee players. Geno has started many many freshmen in the last five or six years and so has just about every team in WCCB. Regardless of level some freshmen are talented enough to start and you can see at least one on many WCCB teams this season and every season.

Here y'all go anointing starter positions to freshman that haven't played a college game yet.

At least half or more of the top 25 players in every freshman class end up starting. Since we have three in the top ten in this class I would say the chances are very good that one or more will break through and start next season.

I think that talent will win out and all will get the chance to rack up some serious minutes if they practice well. They are freshmen and deserve the chance to acclimate to college life and studies. I remember that being no small feat in and of itself. I'm optimistic that they will develop and make a difference over time and, in the short term, provide some talented depth to complement the other players. I hope they are given a chance to get settled in before the expectations run rampant.

I do not think KK will beat out Mercedes or Green!!??

I don't think Hayes will beat out Cooper or Middleton!!??
(maybe late in season??)

I don't think Westbrook will beat out DD!!??
(maybe if DD goes Pro??)
I do not think Renia will beat out Nared!!??
(however, we will need her shooting!!!!)
(Looks better than Kortney or Nared shooting)

I am really looking for these ladies to contribute sooner rather than later.....They will allow us to pressure defense all over the court!!!! Which we cannot do with a short bench this year.

Any inability to press all over the court this season has more to do with the players being unable to keep anyone in front of them, not working hard at it, not being trained well enough how to do it, and not communicating with each other very well to help, rather than having a short bench.

The 97 - 98 Tennessee team pressed all over the court better than any team I've ever seen in women's college basketball, and they only played about seven players.

I could easily see three freshmen starting next year.

Mercedes is building a nice resume for the WNBA draft right now, and I don't see her taking a chance on injury.

DD will probably jump to go pro, which isn't a bad thing in my mind - will give the team a fresh start on a positive note for 2017-2018.

Alexa, Meme, and Kortney are good against lower tier teams - but I don't see them getting much better than what we already know about them.

With the remaining girls, I see Jamie and Te'a starting, and the four freshmen basically with a great chance of taking the remaining three spots.

I remember that team so well because that was my start for my love of the Lady Vols.

That team was something else on defense. Teresa Geter came off the bench as a freshmen and was an automatic shot blocker. A tall woman with long arms. But it was the 3 Meeks who were the most aggressive of all. Chamique, Tamika and Semeka!!!

I might add Kelly Jolly was no slouch either. All I can remember was all hands up and out with arms flailing with feet moving into passing lanes. Those LVs sped up the game like no other team in Tennessee history.

I agree that no one on this team can guard anyone man to man defense!!! Even our supposedly defensive specialist (Carter) was not able to do this! Maybe next year??:clapping:

However, zone pressure defenses has different principals and with five more players next year....they will have substitutes to share playing time...:)

Very few players look better than Kortney when shooting.

If I get one, or both, of these girls over next summer...No Freshman will take their spots!

Maybe you should look at her shot and not at her.

She pushes the ball from the shot-pocket instead of bringing it above her temple. This might be ok for an out of comfort-range shot like some of the 3's she jacks up...But from anything inside of the arc...shooting from the belly as a 6 footer is a no no.
