We'll Find Out Next Year How Much Real Support The Basketball Program Has.

People read these boards and assume that this is how all Vol fans feel, UT will still have decent crowds at TBA, not as good as with Pearl at first but given time it should pan out.

This is pretty common with any coaching change.

True.

I think the vast majority had tons of love for Pearl but also realize that he had to be fired for what he did.

The crowds at TBA are the least of Martin's concerns and should be the least of the fan base's concern.

If he puts a good product on the floor, the crowd will be there.

Every fan base has fair-weather fans, they come and go and do not comprise the majority.

The definition of numerous is "many", not the majority. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Are you a descendent of merriam or webster? Where in my post did I use the word majority? I said the word numerous many or whatever synonym you would like to use is an exaggeration. Hope this helps.

No one here will deny the salesmanship of BP.

And that was essential to reinvigorating the program. Not too many coaches could have done what Bruce did in that regard. Yes, there are many coaches that might have won at least as much as Bruce, but very few, IMHO, could have reinvigorated the program the way he did.

How many coaches went to the tourney the last 6 years?....How many did that with a program that hadnt been in 5 years?

Not dogging ya short...just dont think there's more than 6 or 8 coaches that could have done that....and thery're locked up at places like Duke.

The definition of exaggeration is to overstate or enlarge upon. Saying numerous posters indicated they only cared about UT basketball because of Pearl and would not follow the program if he left is not an exaggeration. Apparently you didn't read the many posts that stated those comments. Hope this helps.

Actually there is a point to this post due to the numerous posters who have posted that they will never attend another game if Pearl isn't coach.

I have read every post and to say numerous is stretching it. The number of posters who have said this
can be counted on your fingers. ( less than a dozen)

You are correct, I didnt read the many posts that stated this.....because the didnt exist. However if you said that many posters said that they didnt follow ut basketball before that would be correct. Numerous amounts didnt however say that they wouldnt continue to follow.

I don't care what side you are on, but it's freaking pathetic to welcome the fact that our attendance is going to drop. Just because some of you have your own little personal vendettas, doesn't mean that those "bandwagon fans" aren't key to any sports team because recruits see packed arenas. And a lot of times those "bandwagon fans" would rather sit at home and watch it on TV instead of wasting money seeing a poor product. That's facts. Sports is about entertainment for the fans. When you don't win, there isn't going to be many fans in the arena not because they are wishy washy, but because they can sit in the comfort of their own homes and not waste money/gas to watch a poor product.

You're mistaken; Tennessee sports is only here for the enjoyment of hatvol.

You're half right which is beating the average. I've never driven a Yukon.

I knew it was something of magnitude. Yukon was fresh on my mind for some reason. I just know a man of your superior financial stature would never venture to the 14th row to watch a game with us little people.

You prefer being called little people over midget?

And driving a SUV for comfort and functionality has nothing to do with financial stature. It's more common sense.
