Well I guess it is Jancek's fault that UGA can't stop Auburn either

So wait... In a thread titled about our D coordinator and UGA's defense, and in a discussion that is clearly about UT's defense, and in response to UT's defensive stats against MO, you state that those two teams has a "better showing".

Pause now to go back and reread the thread and the quotes you were responding to. I'll wait.

Back? Good.

Maybe you should stick to arguing with kids.

I totally misread this thread and want to apologize.

I thought we were talking Vol football and hoping for better days and better performances from the defense.

But its apparently just a j-rk off session between you and Big Orange Run a Train as you rehash the 30 plus point losses and get pleasure from it.kind of sick IMO but to each his or her own.

Enjoy your evening you two crazy kids.

You have an odd way of admitting you posted something stupid-- well, by posting something else equally as stupid.

Since you at least admitted that you misread, I'll help by reposting the exchange in question. I'll even bold a few words to make the comprehension easier for you.

I am just curious what team should this defense have shut down?

I would have settled for them showing up and offering even marginal resistance against OR, AL, MO, or AUB.

Instead, we saw Sal 2.0 [editorial: Our previous defensive coordinator] in those games.

There must be a lot of Sals in the nation against those teams.

Arkansas ST and UGA put up better efforts against MO than the Vols.

Was it easier to follow that time with me helping? You'd be better served to just admit you said something stupid instead of looking more like a jerk with every post.

I'm actually still scratching my head. In response to my point that UT's defense held MO to its second lowest scoring game of the year, he stated that two teams had "better showings", when they allowed more points. Then, I guess in an effort to save face (?), he went to point differential, which is a total red herring to the argument about our defensive showing. (Well, as usual, he actually also played the snarky insult card as usual, which only makes it easier to laugh at him.)

He's too entertaining to go on ignore. I'd rethink it if I were you. :hi:

Hahaha...Is Orange_Crush actually trying to say we had anything other than an awful defensive performance against Missouri? Seriously?

Because we allowed less points? In a 31-3 rout? Seriously?

Might the fewer points have anything to do with the fact that it was the 3rd largest margin of victory for Missouri this year (eclipsed only by Murray State and Kentucky, woohoo!)? Maybe we're just discounting that we gave up 502 yard of total offense, the 2nd most Missouri has gained this year (eclipsed only by Murray State)? Perhaps we're ignoring the 339 yards of rushing we allowed (also second only to Murray State, but at least we're not last right?)? Thank goodness James Franklin was healthy for the Murray State game or else our numbers might look really embarrassing.

Does anyone actually believe our defense played well against Missouri or are you just arguing for the pure thrill of seeing your name each time you hit "submit reply"?

orange_crush will, of course, need the last word, so I'll just hang up and listen

Yeah..that's what I said...don't go to Vegas...loved the great things Chief brought...adjustments at critical times wasn't one of them...watching the bowl game against Nebraska,Peyton's senior year with fellow know it all fan...he tell me we're going to get rolled second half because we don't make JUSTMENTS...I say "Right...Chief is GREAT"....and...SEC Championship game vs LSU...We knock their starting QB out and we're facing backup who can't pass...he bootlegs us to death...and we have both John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth on the line!....Nostalgia is overrated sometimes..would still love him as our DC but I'm not big on absolute statements...maybe Jancek isn't the answer, but let's not break our legs asking the question

Way to gloat about the Nebraska game and the LSU, yet leave out the National Championship that fell smack dab in the middle. Talk about an agenda....smfh

Are you trying to argue that Sal's defense has played better than this one? If so, this discussion and any discussion with you is pointless. Yet Richt held onto him for so long because he was a terrible coach and wanted to jeopardize his own coaching career? As I have already stated they played very well against SC, and the second half's against UGA, UF, and Missouri (don't try to tell me Missouri wasn't trying to score)

I'll argue it. Sal's defense played better run defense than this one, but worse pass defense. (I should probably say "better", since both are horrendous.) We're giving up 5.5 yards per carry compared to 4.8 last year; 23 tds in 10 games, compared to 25 in 12 last year; 116 first downs in 409 attempts, compared to 101 in 477 attempts last year. We're 114th in rushing yards per game allowed, 110th in tds, and 118th in yards per carry against. There are a lot of things which affect bulk yardage (which is what most people quote when they say things like "41st in total defense"), but yards per carry is pretty telling. It's not just big plays, either. We're 110th in giving up first down runs on 3rd down and 121st in 3rd down yards per carry allowed. The pass defense, which everyone seemed to think would be our weakness, has actually been our strength (19th in completion % allowed, and tied for 15th in interceptions); in fact, it's been good enough that we should be selling out on the run much much more often.

Isn't it amazing how facts trump perception and wishes?

I can allow it.

it will take a few years to get top defensive talent on the roster to compete with the best sec teams

Granthem can't stop them with much better athletes and a vastly superior Dline and lb's

This same defensive staff had top talent when they were at UGA and had school record bad defenses, hell crompton made their secondary look like a mediocre d3 team. You have what I like to call dooley syndrome, its very similar to blind parent syndrome. You are so blinded by the little things CBJ and staff do well that your missing the red flags and things they arent so good at. Now I like CBJ but im also not gonna be lead by blind faith, he still has not shown he can coach in the SEC but we will find out this saturday 2 teams equal in talent will play in neyland. Ultimately I think CBJ loyalty to assistants may hurt him in the end.

I am glad to see you didn't interrupt the post coital rituals of Orange Crush and Train Me Please with your logical points.

No one can possibly be happy with the defensive performance we have seen the last month.

They just want to come on here with a sanctimonious " I am a better fan than you because I don't complain" attitude to make themselves feel better about themselves I guess.

Let's not gloss over the fact that Grantham actually held them to fewer points than the Vols did yesterday as well.

Great post. Glad to see some reasonable opinions around here.

Its not just the Auburn game that has people concerned about Jancek

Good grief people. The talent is not here. Some on here likes Georgia's DC better. Auburn put up a lot of points on them yesterday. And Georgia has a lot more talent on defense than we do. We almost beat them with a guy at QB who had only started 5 or so SEC games. And yet you think Georgia's DC is that much better. :banghead2:

I believe Jancek will be kept around at least long enough to fill the roster with top talent much the way he did at UGA. If he works out as a good DC then that is a plus if not he has filled our greatest need at this time and that is a roster full of quality SEC players.

Keyword almost, there so many different ways you can spin that UGA loss. But when it comes down to it, its still a loss at the end of the day. Dooley almost beat a very good lsu team in baton rouge but at the end of the day it was still a loss. And when your one of the top 10 paid coaches in the country all that matters is wins and losses

He may be around for 10 more years who knows but right now there is no real evidence to support that he and martinez have improved since they blew their wad at UGA

If you watched the whole game yesterday you saw Georgia make halftime adjustments and bring the heat the 2nd half, we never change anything it seems lol

Yes it does because many of them are good players. I guess you would rather have Wilcox who couldn't sale a life jacket to a drowning man. By the way, Wilcox never faced this schedule and had much better personnel. If you can tell me who on this team even resembles Eric Berry or Dan Williams, I will agree with you.

Are you serious?

I agree with your point, but....

You can recruit all you want but if you can't scheme, teach, or develop players, it does you no good

As I have stated before, Jancek had talent at Georgia

WHY WAS HE FIRED? Maybe because his Defense sucked?

I don't think he's getting it done at Tennessee either!:furious3:

I am just curious what team should this defense have shut down?

Slow down, not shut down. Vols can't slow down a GOOD offense right now. That's the concern. A good offense it going to score points. A good defense can limit those points. We did not limit points vs. AU, Oreg., Bama or Mizzou. They blew our D off the field like they didn't even exist. Did you watch the game? Georgia D slowed down Auburn's offense significantly in the 2nd half and AU got a lucky play to win.

I wonder how bad auburn fans are bashing their team and coaches for only winning with a miracle catch at the end of the game against uga....
