Gotta LMAO, this is the same bunch that drank the kool-aide so much they coined the term "clawfense" and gushed all year last year about how GREAT the offense was going to be.

Reality is reality. They were hyped up to do great things, be a tornado on the recruiting trail, and ended up being a popcorn fart.

You notice how there are some guys committing now for NEXT year? Recruiting is a two-year process; the coaches at LSU and UF and UGA and Alabama have been working on these kids since 2007. Our staff has been in place for a month.

I think we actually have done pretty good considering that CLK didn't have a whole lot of time. I'm happy with the ones we have.

The staff did a great job with the time they had to develop relationships. I give the staff an A-.

Give it a rest.

Can't handle the truth?

Don't like my opinions... Don't read them. I'll say what I want til Freak says otherwise.

I STILL have nothing against Kiffin and I don't want Fulmer back but if you think this class was acceptable then you are out of your mind. Yes they got some good... even great players. The competition got more and answered their areas of need.

The verdict is still way, way out on this staff. They were put together in part with the idea of being a recruiting juggernaut... Instead they laid an egg.

No one is going to know if this class is acceptable or not until this time next year.

Excellent post. This is the truth. This isn't NCAA'09 and you can't recruit a guy and expect him to commit in a few weeks when other schools have been in contact with him for over a year.

Oh... I guess that's why Auburn did so poorly or Saban in his first class, huh?

I'm not making some sort of final judgment or condemnation but the staff flopped with this class. They lost guys they needed.

I am still amazed that so many DT prospects and especially Hollins and Herbert turned away. What had to happen for guys to walk away from a chance to play for Monte Kiffin?

Let me ask you this...

Where would we be right now if we still had CPF or any other HC and staff? We have assembled what is regarded as a premier recruiting staff in CFB. Give them a chance.

Who knows? But just assume it would have been worse if that floats your boat. But that isn't a relevant question now is it? Fulmer is gone. The class placed 10th in the SEC and didn't fill the team's needs.

"Premier recruiting staff"? Who was priority number one? What was the team's greatest need?

They may indeed prove that they are a "premier recruiting staff" next year but this year's evidence weighs against that label.

Oh. OK. Maybe you are right and they'll coach some of these little guys up into SEC caliber linemen.

If each individual player they got excels beyond our wildest dreams for them... the class as a whole DID NOT fill the team's needs... You could even say "desperate" needs.

Moreover... I just can't get over the fact that so many good, undecided players who had previous interest in UT turned away... or that they lost Phillips and Hollins.

As another poster pointed out, Saban's first class was rated 22.

Geez the fur is flying here today. So here goes my opinion...I liked CPF and his regime is over, so let's be done with the CPF bashing (he will always be what he has always been a Tennessee Volunteer 100%).

As to CLK and his staff...just a reminder to all, he, Coach O, and MK as of a few weeks ago were all tuned to pro ball, especially Coach O and MK, plus Chaney. I think this has got to be factored in with this class.

It would not surprise me to find out at a future date that they collectively decided to focus on what they could for 09, and hit the junior class hard early, for 10.

I realize we are behind the big boys in the SEC...for now, but I stated yesterday and stand by it that I am pleased with a top 20 class, and it is more important to me what they produce on the field this season with what they have. My recruiting expectations will rise considerably for next year and from all indications and reports CLK and crew are already hard at work on this.

Please though enough of the CPF bashing and trashing...it is over for goodness sakes and a rehashing, retrashing just seems banal.

GO VOLS Thanks CPF forp rior service and Thanks to CLK and crew
for your efforts to date.
