it means absolutely nothing if we don't follow through and make the NCAA tourney. We couldn't afford this loss today to a crappy team like UGA.

I'm still hopeful but now it will take beating Auburn and Mizzou then winning two games in the SEC tourney.

If we don't make the NCAA then Cuonzo needs to be on the hot seat and if we start slow next year, he should be fired. I hope we make it.

The Vols forgot to take their swagger down to Georgia. That's the one thing you cannot leave at home when you travel.

Win or be gone. It's as simple as that. I expect our basketball coach to make the NCAA tourney regularly. If that ain't happening then he's got to go, PERIOD !!!

Being completely realistic there is almost no chance he gets fired mid season. It would literally take something like a 3-20 start, and I'd be right there with you.

Barring an absolute catastrophe, Martin will finish next season.

It doesn't bode well for recruiting to fire your head coach mid-season in a year where we most likely lose Stokes and certainly Mcrae, Golden, and Maymon. That's just a recipe for setting the program back a good three to four years.

He should get an extension if he makes it to the dance with this crew.

Agree with everything except last paragraph. Come on man. This isn't Buzz Peterson or Kevin Oneill who needed firing just after the press conference announcing them as coach. Martin has some deficiencies but he's a good coach. He needs to bring in a real point guard and he needs to develop Stokes and some of the other athletes on his roster. But if Golden, McBee and/or Stokes give us ANYTHING offensively yesterday we're talking about being one of the last 4 in the tourney and the hottest team in the SEC, maybe even the country on a 7 game winning streak at the right time. Slow your roll and let's have some continuity in our Bball program. Otherwise I'm gonna have to drop the obligatory "you'd have fired Coach K at Duke too" line on you.

Sometimes, I just have to shake my head...

I don't see why his post would have you shaking your head. Ccm will be in really good shape next year personnel wise. If he doesn't get us to the tourney next year he needs to go. Why would you keep him?

That I agree with. If we miss the tourney next year with the roster we'll have, there's no defending Martin. The OP said he should be fired midseason next year though, which is asinine.

I didn't read it that way...but shouldn't fire mid season for sure.

He should be in great shape next year, everybody expects good things, his recruiting is looking good. SO WHY EVEN BRING UP THE " He needs fired if" thread? Like I said. Are some that bored? Go to the freaking gym, quit being negative til its time! Example- Dooley- it was time!

If CCM does not make it to the AA tourney this year or next, he should be canned, no ifs, ands and butts!!!

That would be 3 years w/out an AA birth - in a program that had made it there 6 years in a row. That VN is regression not progression!

This is moronic. Cuonzo is going to be here for a long time. Get over yourself you whiney 5-year-old.

Progression would have been Pearl leaving the program in a better state than he found it. In the end, it was pretty much the same as when he first got here as far as the product on the floor goes

I'm not sure that's exactly true, sir... I would point towards attendance numbers to show you Pearl left our program better off as just a beginning, and two five stars in two years... Don't feel any need to go on.

Let the season play out. The program is in good shape, and will be in better shape next year.

AA bid this year and he gets an extension and raise?
