Wes Rucker Is Reporting...

Wes Rucker from GoVols247 is reporting that Gruden met with Chargers special teams coach Rich Bisaccia about potentially working together at Tennessee.

Jason LaCanfora and Chris Mortensen have both said that if Gruden takes a college job it will be at Tennessee.

Another great piece of journalism from Wes Rucker: made it sound like Gruden is assembling his coaching staff for Tennessee.

Sounds to me Gruden is indeed coming back to coach, in the NFL.

To get an NFL job, all JG has to do is pick up the phone. He's been there, done that.

The reason he comes to UT is that it's an opportunty to win the biggest and hardest-to-get prize in football: the SEC Championship.

The Giants won the SB with 7 losses in '07 and 6 in '11. Big deal. Lose one game in the SEC and you're practically done.

:good!: nail hitter award for you.

FYI, whatever you think about Wes Rucker, he has traditionally been VERY conservative in what he reports during these coaching searches. He is adamant about being right and not first in these things. This is not like Basillio just shooting off at the first text he gets.

It was also reported that he lowered his asking price and that benefits UT. The Eagles are becoming a big player right now. Philly is buzzing right now about Gruden coming. If UT does get him I believe it will have to be quick.

I live outside of Philly and I heard this weekend that he isn't interested in the Eagles job at all. Said he would not replace his good friend Andy Reid.

Eh. I don't think Jeff Lurie will fire Andy Reid midway through the season after all the success he brought the team. He'll likely allow him to resign after the end of the regular season.

For some reason I'm actually buying this one. We have tried to hire Bisaccia twice over the last 3 years. Kiffin had him on the hook and may have even had an agreement in principle just before he bolted to USC. Dooley tried again this past off season but didn't land him. There may be something about Tennessee that he likes he has certainly been in the conversation. These names being dropped don't come cheap this guy is the assistant head coach for the Chargers and Morris is a former NFL head coach. I just can't imagine Gruden, Morris and Basaccia plus whoever else associated with Gruden on the same college staff. James Franklin would soil his panties if this actually happened. Sounds like an NFL staff to me but who knows maybe Gruden has enough love for Volnation to make it happen. If we got a staff like that I would have some grow man tears I know that. The following are not recent quotes as in the last few weeks or anything but still interesting. Gruden is talking about Bisaccia.

I coached a long time, heÂ’s one of the best coaches IÂ’ve worked with and IÂ’m not just trying to be his agent or publicity manager. HeÂ’s a tremendous football coach, great with players, smart, works his butt off. IÂ’d hire him as a head coach. If I was in position to interview people and look for quality candidates and heÂ’s certainly one of the best IÂ’ve been around.

Special teams guys — he’s not an offensive coach or a defensive coach, he’s kind of a wefence guy. He was my running backs coach, special teams coordinator, jack of all trades. He’s very good at personnel; he’s got a vast amount of experience. I hope he does get an opportunity to present himself. Sometimes that’s all people need is a chance to get in front of the people that are making these decisions. – Jon Gruden

I just realized over the last 15 minutes I have jumped on top of the Gruden train after resisting all this time. There's no turning back now. :good!:

If I win you must do the same. Gotta play along too

Not really my business, but you are basically asking him to pick one candidate against the field. Make it civil, you name the candidate it will be, just as you are asking him to.

I can buy this rumor, but Raheem Morris seems too good to be true...

Doesn't sound like a college staff that's for sure. It would be on heck of a college staff though. Your right seems to good to be true which means it probably isn't.

We don't want Gruden. There are better college candidates out there. We would just be a pre-retirement experiment for Gruden.

If this is true, then Arkansas fans can suck it. It's annoyed the hell out of me how they've acted like they are ahead of us on Gruden, how they have the best chance to get him.

They never had a chance. It annoys me that they pretended like they did.

If he came at all, it wouldn't even be for more than two years.

That's what these pro-Gruden folks arent considering.
