I don't get the WVU anger. Who cares about their fan base? it's a short-ish drive from knoxville -- less than to gainsville. I don't think they have a dominant program and i don't think they would come in and win in year 1, or 5 or 10 for that matter. They fit the SEC East and would be a bottom filler like UK.

If it were up to me, i wouldn't expand at all, but if they are, i'd rather take WVU and have a great chance to win, versus VT and never ever win a game in blacksburg...

I'm really surprised a lot of these schools are even interested. WVU has the easiest road to the BCS by staying in the Big Least...A&M will finish at best 3rd or 4th in the west every year. I know Oklahoma or Texas either one want any part of coming to the SEC nor does FSU...It's easy to be the bully in a league of wanna be's!

I don't get why people think VT is any better than WVU. Sure, it's a better school, but athletically VT routinely accepts terrible students. VT also has significantly more obnoxious fans. I've been to both on gameday and can assure you Morgantown is significantly more fun than Blacksburg.

I don't get the WVU hate here. They're a better fit for the SEC than Missouri. They've got an awesome and passionate fan base. I like it.

You're pulling some stuff out of your ass on this one.

I've never had beer bottles thrown at me at a Tech game, nor have I seen Tech students and grown fans burning couches. Blacksburg's not great, but it's infinitely better than any POS town in West Virginia.

I'm chalking this up to either you being an idiot or you lying.

Morgantown is significantly more "belligerent" and a little more "classless" than Blacksburg... but it's a hell of a lot more fun for a game.

No. I've been to both. VT has an SEC quality experience for gameday. Morgantown offers tailgating in the hospital parking lot and really crappy weather.

Not to mention, the VT market is larger, stadium is better, and there are D1 recruits in the Virginia area. West Virginia has less than 5 D1 players each year.

Baton Rouge minus the stout bar scene and with a distinctly hillbilly edge. The tailgating reminds me of a typical "Northern" football school. Those decrying Morgantown for being "beneath" the social standards of the SEC and Knoxville seem to have a warped idea of how The South is perceived throughout America. Trust me, they're really not that different... except Morgantown is pleasantly debaucherous.

So let's go ahead and add the armpit of the United States to the conference. Can't hurt, right?

Great. A school that will routinely finish fourth or fifth in the East in football. Don't UK and Vandy do a good enough job of being East bottom feeders?
