it is a cluster
WE WENT FROM 4-5 SERIOUS CANDIDATES TO A LIST OF 25!!
If I’m the new incoming coach, I wouldn’t be 100% sure i’d want Westbrook on my team..jMOP
This was inevitable.. the new coach will have to build his/her own team. This just might make room for another recruit that’s ready to play that coache’s style..
But I wish her the best in what ever she decides!
The only problem with this comment is that the 25 or so "candidates" exist only in the minds of the fans on this and other message boards. No one except Phil Fulmer, and probably a few of his close confidants, really know who is and who is not a "serious" candidate. So far, the only name mentioned that is specifically confirmed is Kellie Jolly Harper. And we know that because the MO St AD released a statement that Tennessee had contacted them about the plan to talk to her.
All else at this point is pure speculation!

Hayes left due to failed drug testing. It had nothing to do with Westbrook. And why does everyone praise players for coming here and then dog them out when they don’t agree with something. Simply patheticSurprising she waited this long. It has been one issue after another with her and her family. First, it was Westbrook and Hayes, then Hayes was dismissed and the discontent continued. Some people just aren't going to be happy.
Who would be truly happy about losing. Stop reaching and Deshields loves UT and is in the area every time she can beAll I can say to Evina is bye!! I don’t believe her heart was fully in to playing for the Lady Vols, imo. She had flashes of good play but her body language was never really positive. Just like Deshields.
I am not saying any player has said any certain coach, but do not for one minute think they do not know who the top dogs are and they think we are a top school. It will have to be a big name to garner respect. But what do I know, I am a troll, liar etc according to the side who wants it their way.
I agree with your statement and have said much the same in other posts. Parents need to dissociate because when their kids go to college, their student-athletes are entering into an adult landscape where they have to learn how to manage (and ignore) the social media noise.
Nonetheless, the noise around this program and players has gotten fairly toxic. The segment of fans who were determined (and still are in fact) to defend Holly's job performance at any cost, have been vicious toward scapegoated players, mostly Evina but Davis, Zaay have also been targets.
You are correct no one makes these people play college sports but they are still student-athletes, not professionals, and they should not have to endure the character assassination that is going on right now, check out the LVs FB page and the anti-Evina diatribes. It is one thing to say, Evina makes too many turnovers; it is another to call her chicken-sh%t and other vile epithets. These keyboard warriors need to find some other way to express their frustration than these drive-by character assassination posts. We have our share of these types on this board as well.
Fans are just too wrapped in the "legacy" of CPS which, on the one side results, in Holly being demonized as this greedy, selfish, monster who was joyously destroying the program when in reality, she was a devoted compatriot of CPS who was just in over her head.
The other camp will defend Holly by saying it was all because of those stinkin' no good, rotten players.
Such diatribes ignore the simple fact that bad coaching will make good players look bad (or like underachievers). These student-athletes are not whiney prima donnas, or self-entitled millennials, or kids who believe they get a trophy for just showing up (Given their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom, that accusation is really over the top). They are hard working players who need coaching and a better system in which they CAN succeed.
LVs basketball is a sports team not a morality play. The team needs a better coach; the players need to perform better and that is that.

Actually, the results of player drug tests are confidential. UT doesn't release those. So you're either a Hayes family member, a university representative in violation of contract or someone posting speculation as fact.
OTOH, the grievances about PT and starting at PG, and the parental involvement in that, is not confidential. The parents even took it to SM, and it became divisive.

I think it is fairly common knowledge that it was for using marijuana. I never heard that she failed a drug test, the story (YES STORY, NOT SURE IF FACT) was that another teammate reported her for smoking at a party. I'm sure she had a "surprise" drug test shortly after.
Harper is around 20 years younger than Warlick, not same era.So what type of players are those? Did Holly not seek to sign players "just like her", too? Ever stop to consider that maybe the players of today are far different from those of KJH/Warlick era? This notion that coach x signed a bunch of prima donnas whereas coach y will go find us a bunch of hard nosed champions is a bit simplistic don't you think?
It takes multiple failed drug tests for marijuana before a player is dismissed from UT. The first failed test can be dropped, then players are forced to undergo mandatory counseling, then in-patient therapy/treatment, then an extended program before being dismissed from the university. It's a long process, and few players are dismissed for drug testing alone, especially in a single season. If UT takes the extreme step of dismissing a player for violation of team rules, it's after many attempts to address ongoing issues and there are almost always multiple issues. Te'a Cooper is another example.
