If Boise and ASU get blown out and there isn't a change in the way byes are selected, that would be evidence that something is seriously screwed up with this entire system. I think just the existence of a "committee" making selections has already made that so.
Anyone who pays the slightest attention knew this whole thing was a joke as soon as the "strength of record" garbage was created out of thin air to support Indiana, Penn State, and Notre Dame. And Texas too, for that matter.
I just can't get over how the same national media people banging the table for Indiana, SMU, and Boise are now questioning Indiana's legitimacy and pointing out how easy the draws that Penn State and Texas are, with no sense of irony whatsoever. Like, who couldn't see this coming.
I've posted this before, but just going with the "committee's" final CFP rankings, as f***ked as they are in many ways, it is incredible how much better this event could have been. And we would have hosted a playoff game against ... SMU. Clemson gets the final bid, knocking out Alabama and moving ASU up to #11.. The top four teams get the byes (what a joke to give byes to two CCG losers). But the key is how the event builds toward the second weekend, instead of having two potential duds with Boise and ASU.
1. Oregon (13-0)
2. Georgia (11-2)
3. Texas (11-2)
4. Penn State (11-2)
5. Notre Dame (11-1)
6. Ohio State (10-2)
7. Tennessee (10-2)
8. Indiana (11-1)
9. Boise State (12-1)
10. SMU (11-2)
11. Alabama (9-3)
12. Arizona State (11-2)
16. Clemson (10-3)
