So I know everybody thinks/knows KC is gonna go to the NBA after this year and probably be a first round pick. BUT
In my opinion if KC leaves after this year he is a lock for the first round. If he did stay, I see him playing for the first overall pick!! He already has things that you just can’t teach, speed, instincts and a passion for the game that shows in big moments. He comes back next year and the game slows down for him , he cuts down on turnovers ups his assists and scores upwards of 20 ppg. I’m all for players leaving and getting paid bc they’ve earned it, but in this rare case I could see KC staying. He loves his teammates and he loves the game and he wants to learn.
Having this backcourt together with another year of experience under their belts along with this talented group of post players Tennessee would have the potential to be deadly and poised to make a run in the tourney. Not saying they won’t this year BTW.
What do y’all think? Is their a chance we get Kennedy Chandler back for one more year!

I’d put the percentage around the same as the jersey # he wears.
I know the chances are very slim. But out of all the players that’s came to ut and did a one and done Chandler could be the one who breaks the mold and decides to stay in school.
Probably gonna get heat for this but I just have a feeling he will wanna come back.

Nothing he can do to become the first pick. No reason to come back, his draft stock will only go down as he ages.
You don’t think so?
I have to disagree, he comes back and puts up 20 and 10 . He would be right in the top 3. If we don’t win a National championship or a Sec championship he would be coming back to get a chip.
He’s coming back.

No, I dont think so. He has the potential to be a NBA starter but likely not a superstar. His is too small to be an elite defensive player and is not as athletic as other small guards in the NBA. The NBA drafts on potential and another year in college will not change his potential one iota. He has not show anything in college that he had not already shown the potential for earlier. Great vision, great speed and instinct, limited size and needs improvement as a scorer. His ceiling will not become higher by playing another year against mostly people who will never play in the NBA.

You make very good points sir.
I do think you’re underestimating KC on defense though. Chris Paul is the same height. Very good defensive player. I can see KC developing into a Chris paul type of player.
Do I see Chandler getting 3 blocks a game definitely not. I do see him keeping people in front of him and he has very quick hands.
Most nba players don’t come out of college being dominant scorers either. I think trae young was one of the few exceptions and he scored 27.
College kids just don’t have the consistency or fully developed their offense. Which is why I think one more year would give him more time to strengthen his offensive and defense abilities.

2 names that I think should’ve stayed 100 percent. Yea the moneys their. But with the nil these days KC may stay and choose to develop and learn from those 2. Yea they chose the money quick money but what would another year of college done for those young guys confidence and abilities they chose quick money but it could end up costing them the longevity of their careers by being buried in the depth charts or being sent to g league.

That reminds me with the NIL now. Could Tennessee offer enough money to get him to stay? Like I mentioned above, one more year to develop your skills and boost your confidence, playing with a team that you care about winning a championship these are all reasons I think he stays.

I think you are way off and do not seem to understand the modern NBA. Keon and Springer are going to develop much faster playing in the G league, playing against other pros, than they would playing another year of college. The NBA has absolutely no need for college to develop players. If they could take these kids right out of HS and put them in the G league they would, but they can't. The NBA would much rather take a raw, talented 18 year old then the same guy at 21 who became better in college. The NBA pays people millions to evaluate talent and the are wrong much less often than they are right when it comes to assigning a ceiling to a player. And as far as money, staying in college is wasting years you could be earning money, not to mention the delay in your first, non-rookie contract.

To say I don’t understand the nba is kinda extra . I’m just stating for the sake of the argument . Why not?
The nil is offering millions to football players why not offer big money to college basketball player?
Name one player who went to the g league and came out as a star. Nobody.
The g league is for guys who shoulda stayed in college bc they wasn’t ready or foreign players who don’t have access to big time expose of colleges.
Why not stay a extra year and develop your skills and skip the bottomless pit known as the g league .
I mean the nil can pay you. You can gain exposure, you gain confidence and you can play for a championship.
I think the nil if used properly can sway some players to staying an extra year.
Now of course that all goes out the window when they remove that you have to go to college for a year.

IMO 40% chance he returns.

Lethal team with KC, ZZ, Vescovi, JJJ, Aidoo starting next yr. with backups BJ, Powell, Mashack, Plav, BHH
People saying theirs no chance I think are getting ahead of themselves I agree with ya but I think it’s more then that.
I think the chances of him returning are a lot higher then ppl think!

I don't know. I'm not an odds-maker.
But I'd happily contribute to the Keep Kennedy Home gofundme coffers to keep him one more year.

It is indeed fair to say that your understanding of the NBA/player development is pretty inaccurate.

No way he's a first overall pick no matter how many years he stays. Having said that there's zero chance he returns next season. Kid was gone the minute he stepped onto campus in Knoxville.

Name one player from the g league that is a main contributor.
Like I said I’m doing this for the sake of the discussion. So please keep that in mind before you resort to low blows like you don’t understand, or the typical I know so much more then you. Because let’s face it if you knew that much you’d be a nba scout .. seeing that you’re not.. 🤷‍♂️

This wasn’t at me, but cmon? There’s been a ton of dudes who had to first spend time in the g league. Even a few all stars. Rudy Gobert, Khris Middleton, Pascal Siakim, Danny Green, Alex Caruso just to name a few. More recently, Jalen Green, Johnathan Kuminga.

Can he make more $ coming back with NIL deals or playing in the G league? I no it wouldn't be good for his NBA development if he stays.

So khris Middleton and Siakim.. Those 2 are the only big names. Most of the time the g league is for players who should’ve stayed in college. With money being offered it could alter decisions.
How many more players successfully played in college a couple years had a better career. Compared to the g league where a player can be covered up.
Both avenues have different perks.
You stay in college now you can get paid. You can get exposure, and develop your game. I get what everybody is saying the g league better players more experience.
If the right money is offered a player can be swayed to stay with their college.
I think KC could be someone who breaks the trend.
I think he’s coming back.
