My Dad went to HS with Lewis and ended up with a football scholarship to UT. He said the hardest hit he ever took playing football was from Lewis in practice at Fulton. The talent at Fulton in that time period was amazing. The dumbest recruiting mistake by Doug Dickey was not recruiting LB DD Lewis from Fulton High School in Knoxville. He wound up being All SEC and All American at Miss State in 1966-1967 and was SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 1967. He played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1968-1981.View attachment 502403View attachment 502404
He straight up told Hyatt that he wasn't physical enough.
And some people think coaches can never get things wrong haha.
"I'll trust a coaches evaluation over...."
Some people coach because that is literally the only job they can do!
What could have been: Several of Clemson's star players discuss their interest in Tennessee before signing with TigersThat was Hunter Johnson I think. Lawrence was never likely… I could be wrong.
My favorite opponent was Jim Donnan and UGA going after Jasper Sanks over Jamal Lewis.
