What’s the dumbest recruiting evaluation

That was Hunter Johnson I think. Lawrence was never likely… I could be wrong.

My favorite opponent was Jim Donnan and UGA going after Jasper Sanks over Jamal Lewis.
I thought that he was told he didn't fit Butch's offense.

The dumbest recruiting mistake by Doug Dickey was not recruiting LB DD Lewis from Fulton High School in Knoxville. He wound up being All SEC and All American at Miss State in 1966-1967 and was SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 1967. He played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1968-1981.View attachment 502403View attachment 502404
My Dad went to HS with Lewis and ended up with a football scholarship to UT. He said the hardest hit he ever took playing football was from Lewis in practice at Fulton. The talent at Fulton in that time period was amazing.
Over the years, there’s lots of misses and Lewis was a big one. Another LB, Willis, will always bother me because he wanted to come to UT so bad…. If the Lawerence story is true, Man, that one stings.

The real question is: would you trade your existence for more national championships in the 90’s?
Afraid not. Love my team, but fandom has it’s limits. BTW I recently met a guy named Yerbouti. I don’t think he is a sheik but I wonder if you guys are related.

Tennessee with Pruitt not recruiting Gibbs or South Carolina with Musky Muschamp, not recruiting Hyatt?
Am pretty sure GT coaching malpractice w/ him last year is on Butch Jones Kamara level. That dude running half speed was the fastest guy on the field. He's amazing.

He straight up told Hyatt that he wasn't physical enough.

And some people think coaches can never get things wrong haha.

"I'll trust a coaches evaluation over...."

Some people coach because that is literally the only job they can do!

Muschamp also told Derrick Henry he wouldn’t play RB in college and offered him as a LB only I read. We all know how that turned out

A recruiting mistake by General Neyland was not recruiting Jackie Parker who played for Young High School in Knoxville. Jackie Parker got Married while in High School and Tennessee ignored him because of that. He was All SEC and All American at Miss State in 1952 and 1953 and He played in the CFL from 1954-1968.R (43).jpg
