What are our main areas of need in recruiting?

In my opinion, we need two STUD OL, two STUD DT, two STUD DE, one STUD WR, and one STUD QB to round out the recruiting class. Assuming, we have 24 scholarships available. And, all current 16 commits sign as expected. Does anyone have the players in mind to fit our needs?

That about sums it up, lot of players in mind as well. Stud Qb maybe hard to pull this late. Look for that in 10'. Need impact DT's. Might have 1, need more.

Ok, none of you "fools" has answered my question.....how many scholly's do we have?? guess i'm just as dumb as u guys.....

I guess by "stud" you mean potential players that can come in and play right away. Not going to happen.

You'll have to depend on our "stud" of a coach to develop what he currently has. Then again, I'm pretty sure that won't happen either.

After seeing Petty, he won't start and if he does we're in bad shape.

And by "Stud" OL, we could be getting that very soon. Peter White+Morgan Moses both really like us.

DT we have Edwin Herbert as our best coming in

And uh, why do we need DE's right now? We're fine with that for the next few years..

I'd say our WR is set, we got Je'Ron Stokes.

I am not very impressed with Petty. I hope he proves me and many wrong! It would be nice to steal Murray away from UGA. 4,000 yards passing, 51 TDs, and very few ints, WOW.

I am not sure on the scholarships. But, looking back we have averaged 24 the last 4 years. So, I am assuming you get about 24 per year.

Ok, assuming he have everyone committed, evern soft verbals, this iis waht we need in addition: (ideally)

1-2 more stud DT's
1-2 more stud DE's
1-2 outside LB's
1 more corner (if Thigpen is gonna be on offense)
1 stud safety
2 stud OL
1 stud TE
1 stud FB
1-2 stud WR (Marlon Brown + 1 more)
1 SuperSTud QB

so, in essence, we need AT LEAST another 10-11 players......hopefully, we can take up to 28-29 guys....then we could be golden if we fill out this list, I think.....also, anyone say 2 walk-on kickers????

I think CLK will do just fine for 2 reasons
1:Very good recruiter (so I'v heard)
2:Great offensive coach

In my opinion, STUDS are true 4 and 5 star recruits that actually fit the ranking. Several 4 and 5 star recruits should probably be ranked 3. Hopefully, we round out the class with all true 4 and 5 star recruits.

Let me say this. We need some Albert Haynesworth's and John Henderson's on DL. We need some Shaun Ellis' and Parys Haralson's at DE. We need some Kevin Burnett and Al Wilson's at LB. We need some Fred Weary's and Cosey Coleman's at OL. We need some Peerless Price's and Donte Stallworth's at WR.

We need a QB anywhere in the same atmosphere as Manning. I don't see us getting another Manning anytime soon. But, it would be nice to get one that is close.

There is not an uncommitted QB that would start here next year. Only a small handful of any of them would anyway. 2010 is our QB year. Hard to pull QB's in 2 months.

Yes, we need some walkons in the kicking game. I think we need lots of DTs and DEs for depth. You want to be able to rotate those guys the entire game. It keeps them fresh.

agreed....even if i'ts totally unrealistic, but sounds like a good plan to me......if you look at my earlier post, I think if you fill it out with the studs u mentioned, then we can truly load up 4 next year........hope we can get these studs........

Vols 5150, why so negative. Many of us are not positive. But, most feel Kiffin will do a heck of a lot better at developing talent than Fulmer. Kiffin won't talk about working like heck. He will work like heck and work ALOT SMARTER.

Look at all of the former Vols in the NFL. Very few are OLs. It says a lot about a head coach that was a former OL and OL coordinator.

Nice job tabrams! I agree. I hope we have 28 available. And, I hope all the others will be 4 and 5 stars who fit our needs.
