Whats up with the stars? How do you get those?...LOL Do you have to be in the good grace of Vol Freak? Some people with less posts have more stars than ones with more. It tought it had to do with posts.

Tha'ts a nice post..........I'm not saying that I know more than the analysts.....just sayin' that I don't think Boyd will be good in a pro-style offense, he's not a very strong passer.......he has very little arm strength........He could excel in a spread, or option attack........otherwise, he will be a bust.....at Ohio State, he would ride the pine......ever heard of that Xavier guy, went to FSU?? ended up a total bust, Bowden tried to make him into a TE, wouldn't do it, declared for the NFL draft, and the NFL told him he had to play TE to make it.........he tried to play TE, but I think he got cut, bc/ he didn't know what he was doin', what a dummie.......

Same with Boyd......he should go play spread, but he won't make the NFL as a QB......period.......Kiffin felt the same way.........

I agree 100%. If you look ar his highlight films, you can tell he doesnt have a strong arm. He seems to make good decisions but I just feel his arm strength is not where it needs to be if we can get someone better to fit the pro-style offense. Although, they said Joe Montana didn't have the strongest arm either and look at how many superbowl rings he ended up with!!! I guess we will find out how good he T.B. will be when he suits up in red and silver next year.

TAbrams, don't worry about proving your opinion on Boyd. Boyd will prove you right. He won't do well in the pro style offense. Otherwise, Kiffin wouldn't have told a 4 star QB he should look at other options. Kiffin knows what he is doing.

We're pretty deep currently on the d-line. It doesn't hurt to add some good names, but as long as the guys we expect to step up, will, we'll be pretty strong on the d-line.

It rates you on how prone to violence you are.

Why will he ride the pine? He redshirts, Pryor leaves as a junior, and then he'll probably be starting as a redshirt sophomore..

But I'll admit Lee was a bust, but for every Lee, there is a Tebow who lives up to the hype and more.

Sure he could be a bust, or he could be great. We don't know. What we do know is that he's good enough for other big time programs to offer him though, so he's not bad by any means.

And the whole you know more than the recruiters things, was because you acted like I thought I knew more than Kiffin.

i miss your old gif avatar.

Me too. :cray:
Perhaps one day we'll be able to bring them back. I'm counting on the server to have liked it too.

One year=one star. You've got quite a while it seems. :)

I wish him the best of luck..........but I'd like to get a 6'4" monster who can launch it 70 + yards on a rope, like Heath Shuler could...........or like a Sam Bradford type......has to be one we can steal, Kiffin will know one when he sees one.....by the way, I got a feeling that kid going to GA is way overrated too, but the lower ranked kid maybe underrated......I think Matt Barkely is the real deal.....

Well, u'r right in that u never know, anything is possible.....if you haven't watched a highlight reel of Boyd, please do so and compare to other QB's.......you'll notice his passes take FOREVER to get to the receivers when thrown over 20 years, bc/ he has a very WEAK arm........bc/ he throws alot of screen passes, short slants, and over the middle passes, and run alot, his numbers are pretty good.....this is not what we are lookin' for........we need a BOMBER, like a Carson Palmer, Tony Robinson, Peyton Manning, etc.....

If you don't trust Kiffin's opinion, and you rely on recruting services, who bust picks ALL the time, then you are really silly............I'm not saying that I know more than Rivals.com, or whoever.....But after watching Boyd's weak throws on his reel, and seeing Kiff tell him to go play Spread/ option ball, then it all makes sense......and yes Xavier Lee was the biggest bust ever.......

BTW, Tebow has 3X better arm than Boyd, and even he will have some difficulty adjusting to the NFL.......Boyd will have no chance......unless he changes positions......

Here are our rankings in recruiting according to rivals since 2002:

2002 - 2
2003 - 18
2004 - 11
2005 - 4
2006 - 23
2007 - 3
2008 - 35

If, you average it. It averages out to 14th in the nation. I think Kiffin will do better!

He will. He is making in roads for the future. He come in to a tough spot trying to pull in players that backed away from us and swing some top players this late. He needs to fill a few spots this year. 2010 should be off and running.

I may catch a little flack over this, but is it possible that Kiffin believes that Crompton can be a solid college QB? His season this year went very similiar to Ainge in 05 with Ainge finishing with a strong performance against UK as Crompton did. Maybe Crompton needs a little polishing and I know before you say it that Coach Cut aint walking through the door to do it, but Lane did a pretty good job with QBs at USC. Crompton wasnt a high ranked QB out of HS for nothing.....lets not forget in 06 as a RS freshman he threw for 400 yards 4 TD and only 2 int when Ainge went down! The talent is there, he just needs his confidence reinstalled and to be polished a little and it cant help that we will have much better offense scheme. Any thoughts?

Strong performance? You call throwing the ball about 10 times the whole game a strong performance? Maybe you should rewatch that game. Running the ball won us that game, not Crompton.

he manageed the game plan real well i thought he play great

Yeah, Crompton made those nice hand offs

I hope and pray Kiffin will land a 4 or 5 star QB. If not, I think Coleman is the man, not Crompton. I say Stephens is better than Crompton.

Please guys, stop comparing Crompton to Ainge. I agree Crompton wasn't developed. But, do you remember how many times he threw the ball out of bounds, over the heads of the receivers, and toward the receivers feet!!!! :fool:

I just want to throw this out there... Whatever happens this year in recruiting is not Kiffin's deal. No matter how this recruiting class turns out it's not his class. As much as I hated seeing Boyd not apart of our recruiting class, I have to put my trust in Kiffin to go out and get the type of players for his team. I don't care if we are not ranked in the top 30 in recruiting... it's not Kiffin's fault and he should not be held accountable whatsoever. 2010 recruiting class will be his first recruiting class and that is when I'll expect more of Kiffin. This year it's all about getting his name out there around the nation to highschool football coaches and upcoming seniors for the 2010 class.

What does matter is the noise he makes with guys we did not have and now do. Plus getting the attention of the High profile talent we used to get every year. Just getting some of the committed players to other schools to visit this late is an achievement. Look out in 2010.

I agree. I think the impact will be more felt next year but this years still looks promising.
