Vols 5150, why so negative. Many of us are not positive. But, most feel Kiffin will do a heck of a lot better at developing talent than Fulmer. Kiffin won't talk about working like heck. He will work like heck and work ALOT SMARTER.
Look at all of the former Vols in the NFL. Very few are OLs. It says a lot about a head coach that was a former OL and OL coordinator.
Is that you Phil?...LOL
Great post.......Fulmer's biggest problem is recent years, was his LACK of recruiting quality lineman, OL in particular.......doesn't make sense......also, I think Fulmer had a reputation as being a "soft" disciplinarian, that's why all the most messed up thugs wanted to come here..........this entire program needs to be cleaned up, even if losing Boyd and Giles signals the end of the crybaby, me-first, thugs, who have a ton of stars by their name, but who undermine team chemistry, and discipline....
Uh, how can you call Boyd a me first guy? He didn't do anything except leave whenever Kiffin told him he wouldn't fit.
Giles I can understand though, because it did seem like he started a lot of drama, but still, it's one of the biggest decisions in an 18 year old kids life. Give him a break.
Sure, Giles was a problem in waiting.........but Boyd seems like he could present a problem too.....simply bc/ he's not that good, but thinks he is......
the guy's a great athlete, granted, but a below average QB in terms of overall arm........He will not be a great QB in college, unless he goes to a spread school.....But he wants to play pro=style.......
If he goes to a pro=style school, he will be a bust....He will be another Brent Schaffer, trust me, and we all know how that turned out........
Qb. End of story
I guess by "stud" you mean potential players that can come in and play right away. Not going to happen.
You'll have to depend on our "stud" of a coach to develop what he currently has. Then again, I'm pretty sure that won't happen either.
We need Morgan Moses and Peter White.
We're pretty deep currently on the d-line. It doesn't hurt to add some good names, but as long as the guys we expect to step up, will, we'll be pretty strong on the d-line.
Dude, have you ever seen him?
How is he not that good? Seriously, explain it. He's got to be rated highly for a reason.
And a great athlete with a below average arm? Uh...is that why he runs like a 4.7, yet is rated the 3rd most accurate passer in the class?
I watched his highlight reel yesterday.....You've got to remember, those rating are largely a CROCK!! Bradford was only the #12 rated QB coming out of HS.......
They are wrong, ALL the TIME!!
This is what I noticed about Boyd......great athlete, great body control, very good passer/ accurate on short passes, anyting in 20 yards is pretty good.......beyond that, he passes have no zip on them, they float.....his arm is not strong at all....he hesitates in the pocket......remember Brent Schaeffer was ranked top 5 or 10 dual-threats out of HS, and then was 5=stars out of JUCO, after he left TN.........he was no good either.....Body is not nearly as fast and elusive as Pat White, and lacks arm strength.........His best bet is to go to a run-oriented spread like Michigan, or Georgia Tech, where he can run ALOT...........
Boyd will never play in the NFL, unless he changes position.......obviously, Kiffin felt the same way.......maybe u know more than Kiffin, but I doubt it......
I think Kif is good at recruiting talent. We shall see. I agree with Abrams. I don't think Boyd will do well in a pro style offense either. We shall see.
Kiffin said he wouldn't be good in this system. He didn't say he wouldn't be good. Obviously he's good enough to get an offer from Ohio State though, so apparently he's got something.
And ok, for every rating your bring up, someone else has lived up to the hype.
You say I may know more than Kiffin though, the same could be said to you, since apparently you know more than the people who are actually paid to evaluate these players.
And I still don't understand why you think he should run so much. He's basically Andre Woodson all over again. Pass first QB who has enough athleticism to escape if need be and pick up the first down.
