What are the best jobs in cfb

It's more than just facilities...IMO having 27,000 fans show up in a 70,000 seat stadium (which is 20 miles away from campus) shows the level of support for Miami...And for an in-state rival game that is your season finale speaks volumes...As long as Shalala and Hocutt are there, Miami will not be a top tier job and until they solve the stadium and facilities problem, they will struggle to be relevant in the ACC, much less on a national level...Anybody who thinks Miami is a better job than UT is just being illogical..JMO

The college football world is pretty much waiting on miami to be good. Given the right coaching, they can rebuild extremely fast. Like i said ut has better facilities but that's pretty much the only advantage. I know the sec is the superior conference, but with a school like miami that isn't that big of a deal. I think miami is the better job because of location, recruiting are, and history. Jmo.

As I said before, IMO No way Miami is a better job than UT..Their "history" didn't even start until 1926...and the only real success they have had has been since the early 80's...well it ain't the 80's and 90's anymore...Miami can't come close to comparing to the tradition and history of UT...As far as facilities?? Miami isn't even CLOSE to UT...The only advantage is recruiting area and the parity among Florida schools has basically wiped that out too..Even with UT not having a fertile crop of in-state talent to recruit from, they annually sign top 25 classes anyway...And "the college football world" ain't waitin' on Miami to be good...Only Hurricane fans are...Best of luck to Coach Golden...He will need it...JMO

I'm still puzzled by the "innate advantages" argument that some people come up with. For example:

Florida: Florida will always be good b/c of the innate advantages of recruiting in Florida. Yet Florida spent the entire 1980's playing third fiddle to Miami and FSU, and the entire 90's playing second fiddle to FSU (third, when Miami was good in the early 90's). In the early, 2000's they were again behind Miami. Its only been since 2006 (2006!) that they were clearly the best team in their own state! And should Miami and FSU get good again, they will have to fight with two other major powers for all those recruits.

USC: I really like this one. USC has so many advantages to their location its almost not even fair! Yet, from 1980-2001, over TWO DECADES, they had ONE 10-win season. One. Where was that advantage at then? Shouldn't it have reared its head more in 20 years? To put that into perspective (especially for the guy acting like USC will have no problem getting back but Notre Dame will), in the 21 years since Notre Dame last won a title (1988), they have FIVE 10 win seasons and were damn near national champs again in 93. USC's down period makes Notre Dame's look like a walk in the park.

Texas: The one I can't figure out the least. Texas went 35 years in between winning a national title (despite playing in the joke of a conference that was the SWC) and has played second fiddle to Oklahoma ever since Stoops arrived.(OU won the big12 title 7 times in the last 10 years whereas Texas won it twice) Good lord, people on this board were saying Alabama was irrelevant for not winning a title in 15 yers!

Clearly there are some advantages, but I don't think they are as strong (or as hard for other teams to overcome) as some on this board believe.

I mean where the roster can be stacked every year ( which is 90% of the battle) and has the backing to win. I know they say Tn was always hard to get recruits and Fulmer over achieved in getting our roster stacked in his prime. SO I feel he did a lot to make UT a top job. But I mean just a job that once hired you should always win 9-10 games immediately. Let me start by eliminating Notre Dame.

seems the attached link states it closely. Not saying that is the ranking of best, but pretty close.

BCS 4 & 5 Star Breakdowns

I think Florida and Texas both go over anyone else.. top 2 easily..

attached link summarizes the number of Players in states. pretty obvious to me why those schools you mentioned have an advantage. and there are plenty of players in their states to share with other in state schools.

Then, since they are so good, they can cherry pick top players from other states..

Miami despite starting football later, only have one less nc. They also have a more recent national title than ut as well as 2 heismans to uts 0. Ut has a big advantage in facilities just like miami has one in recruiting area. How was it that most people consider shannon to be a bad coach yet as a whole he brought in really good classes even though florida ruled the state? If people aren't waiting on miami to be good then why was it that when they started out 2-0 last season they shot up into everyones top 10? College football is generally better when a team like miami is good....JMO

IMO when you play in the Big Least and the ACC, wins are MUCH easier to come by..Undefeated seasons are a LOT easier when your conference schedule is...well...a schedule with teams from those conferences...The reason they "shot up" into the top 10 last season after 2-0 was the talent they had...And you see where they ended up...IMO Facilities trump area every time when you have great recruiters AND the budget to travel for recruiting...You have to spend more time with the travel involved but most parents want the BEST opportunity for their kids and when you have the BEST facilities you normally sway more kids (and parents ). Miami has some of the WORST in the ACC and no matter how much people perceive them as an "upper tier" program, until they solve the stadium problem, energize the fan base, gather MUCH more support from alumni and administration, and SERIOUSLY upgrade their facilties, a Nat'l Championship will not be attainable, no matter WHAT area they are in...JMO

Watch out for that burgeoning talent bed that is Bosnia. They have increased their BCS player output by approximately ∞% since the last period of research. Soon, The Sarajevo State University will become the 13th member of the Big 10 conference.
