Not lose to a team we should beat
Compete for 60 minutes
If it is 3rd and 1, be able to get it 95% via the rush
Net punting yardage 39.0 yards per punt
Allow less than 22 yards per return

I just want continuous improvement all year. We need to play all 60 minutes no matter what.

continuing progress on the field, no trouble off the field.

A tough defense would make me happy. Have not had a good defense at UT in a long time.

1) Win games they are supposed to win. You can't lose to Mizzou and Vandy.

2) Play to your strenghts. Sal never was able to do that and CP was never utilized the way he should have been.

3) Get some pressure on the QB. Miller, Smith, and Williams need to step up. Would like to see what Carr can do right off the bat.

4) Someone needs to step up at WR. Someone also needs to step up at LB. It can't just be Johnson and Maggitt. Hopefullly Harris and Brewer can do well.

5) Don't give up. Fight back. If you're going to lose to Bama, punch them in the face one last time before you go down.

1. 6-7 wins.
2. A bowl game, preferably with win in that game.
3. Avoid a lose to UK, Vandy, or Western Kentucky(I expect Bobby Petrino to be gunning to upset an SEC team)
4. I would love to see a win over someone we shouldn't, on paper, beat like...Florida, Bama, or Oregon.

1. Discipline.
2. Toughness.
3. Heart.

These traits win games when you aren't as talented as your opponent. We have to start here.

We need leadership and toughness, something that has ben missing as of late. This up comming season will be tough, we will have trouble scoring points and will have to have a much better kicking game to keep it close. It took some time to get in our present position and will take some time to overcome our lack of talent. However, 2014 recruiting is starting to look much better for our future.

-It would be nice to have your team get lined up on defense and not be shuttling players in and out 10 seconds or less before snap. CBJ's coaches have already made several comments about that after 'looking at the film.'
-Looking for an improved kicking game.
-Looking for D to give up less big plays.
-Looking to have a 1,000 yard rusher. (Maybe two)
-Looking to have much improved secondary. I just can't believe that with Jones, Moore, Randolph, McNeil, Coleman and crew UT can't present a formidable pass defense.

-As far as talent. UT has a top 5 (in the nation) talent in the O-line, and several quality back-ups.
-I think Couch, McCullers, Williams, Miller and a few others are all high quality D-line talent.
-No team has recruited as well at UT at WR in the past few years. Period.
That said, Jones has to overcome a culture of losing. I think he can. Maybe he is a snake oil salesman, but this guys seems to be pushing the right buttons and flipping the right switches. That doesn't mean he is going to win 9 games. I think 7 wins would be a huge step in the right direction. But with that schedule who knows. It's a bear. So fans should temper their expectations.

Excellent post. Logical points and reasonable expectations.

To play up to the talent level we have on the team (or a little better). I think K-State is a great example of a team that plays over talent level. Snyder gets the most out of what he has. The last few years, UT has not done this and has played far below the level they should have in some cases.
Also, not making stupid, game killing mistakes like having 13 men on the field on the last play of the game would be great as well.

Since I will be at the games I want:
early fall weather
no rain games
chili for hot dogs
cheese steak option for the cheap seats
crushed ice for the drinks

oh, and a decent D to watch

Because I've had to deal with some of their fans recently, and because they act like they're a powerhouse now, once again;

Sh*tting on Vanderbilt.

I feel that if we play hard, no quit, fundamentally sound football we should win at least 6 games and hopefully sneak up on a team we're not supposed to beat. Mainly I'm looking for a team that plays with heart. Talent wise, we are who we are. I'm not expecting us to win the east. However I think 6-6 and a bowl trip should be doable.
