I know it's probably the offseason-overhyper in me, but I really expect huge things from Hurd. Even this year as a true freshman.

Now granted, he'll have the ball in his hands against Utah State in front of 100,000+ fans for the very first time, and that can be terrifying for a young player, but I think once he gets comfortable he will be a monster in the league. Personally, I expect him to be the starter by Oklahoma.

I'm very aware it's a blind prediction, but for those of you who aren't aware, here's what we're dealing with talent-wise:

-Junior year he rushed for 3,357 yards and 43 TD's. Both state records. 3,357..... in one season...... let that sink in.

-Also junior year, scored 294 points. That's not what his team scored, just him alone.

-He got injured his senior year, only getting to play one game, but in this one game he rushed for 177 yards and 3 TD's.

-Played some defense in this one game his senior year as well, he had 8 tackles and an interception.

-Averaged 10.58 yards per carry in HS.

-In HS, had 3 games of 390+ rushing yards. One was 451.

-In the State Championship of 2012, he led his 15-0 team to a slaughterfest over their opponents. He rushed for 394 yards and 7 TD's that game.

With this in mind, does anyone think he won't have an absolute dynamite year in 2014? If so, why not?

Lane starts whole season if he avoids injury. Snaps about equally shared with Hurd with the possibility of a third back getting a few. JMHO.

I don't have any expectations for him...he's coming off of a surgery and the SEC isn't TN high school football

Yep, I just expect him to play. He won't be the feature back in my opinion and that's pefectly fine his first year.

He has plenty of talent and ability. Lane will take away some of his production but the biggest question is the 5 guys in front of him.

That will determine how good of a year both have.

I really don't think 1000-1100 yards is unreasonable as the #2 back with this system. There's really no excuse for Lane to not hit 1500, we should be able to run outside at will with our TE's and are Reciever Core'ps size and blocking ability.

Just matters if he's the #2 or number 1 or 3 Rb,

I can give you Brian Dardens stats while in high school in MIssissippi and can make a case that he will be a stud.
His talent didn't transfer to the college level and he was gone in 1 1/2 seasons with only a few carries in mop up duty.

I can also give you the stats for Dominique Stevenson while in high school in South Carolina and make the case that he and Jamaal will be a great 1 - 2 punch at tailback. However; Fulmer never played him at tailback but put him in as a linebacker and he was drafted by Buffalo.

We never know how things will turn out in any given players career.

Who thought that Foster would play alot as a freshman? I had Riggs as the starter the whole season and getting 90% of the snaps.

Ya just never know!!!!!!!!

4 Heismans
4 NC Trophies
4 SEC POY
School record -Rushing yards
-Points scored
-Tackles
-Assisted Tackles
-KO Ret. Yards
-Punt Ret. Yards
-Student Body Pres.

Other than that, not much. Hell he is only a freshman we need to be realistic around here. Right

People said the same things about Bryce Brown before his freshman year. We all know how that worked out.

People said the same things about Lane before his freshman year. He performed well, but wasn't as awesome as some predicted.

People said the same thing about Devonte Bourque. He was gone in two weeks.

Let's start by having more moderate expectations. Otherwise, some of you guys are always going to be setting yourselves up for disappointment.

Darden is still one of the biggest mystery's to me , that kid was one of the best high schoolers I ever saw.

Injuries will plague him his freshman year. Maybe get 500 yards and 3 TDs. I don't expect more. The learning curve from middle Tennessee HS football to the SEC is huge.
