1984 Nissan Sentra. Unlike the fancy model in this picture, mine did not come standard with a passenger mirror. It did come with a Depeche Mode tape jammed in the deck, a deck which when cold played tapes at half speed. 0-60 in about 15 seconds(20 if you were running A/C), which looking back probably kept me from killing myself. No power anything, no antilock doodads, no real “safety” features. But the seats leaned alllll the way back am I right guys?

Yeah, I remember the TR7. Never drove one but I would guess NOT so easy to work on like their earlier models. The TR6 was a pretty decent car, I knew a couple guys that had them but I never owned one of those either.
I never did either, but loved the look. The TR6 looked like a man's car. Nothing girly about it. I thought about a TR8 for just a little while, but knew it would be trouble. It had the old Buick/Rover aluminum 215 cu.in. V8.

What you said about the TR6, I could not have said better.

The last car I had before joining the Army (senior year of HS) was an ‘87 Buick Somerset.

Neat thing about that car. It was registered to someone in Lebanon TN (where my family was from) prior to ending up in NY.

1964 Pontiac Lemans 326 V8 inherited from my sister. That sucker would fly but brakes were awful especially downhill at 90 mph.
Her first car was a 1960 Corvair that had a heater that blew hot air and fumes off the manifold. Might as well have stuck your mouth on the end of the tailpipe LOL. A miracle we survived those days.

I saw an XK150 parked behind Andy Holt Apts. in about 1971. The hood had come loose and wrapped itself over the front edge of the roof. They had bent it back down and strapped it shut. Same thing happened to my dad's when my brother was driving it. He lied about where he was, and how fast he was going. I found out from his friend. Dad never knew.

Did not sell mine till fall of 72' so not mine.... steering column dropped loose the morning after I took possession in the turn lane to the old Bearden HS... one bolt in a u-joint going around the engine.... three miles earlier I was going over 130 on I-40. also found out that the 4 wheel disk brakes were on a single hydraulic system and popped a flex cable to rear wheel while speeding over the Henley bridge.... had to take on a retaining wall at a gas station at end of the bridge to stop. Only lost a little chrome..... Quite a learning experience with car ownership....

1968 Ford F250 4x4. I gave my uncle $500 for it in 1994, and was the happiest dude in the world. Mine wasn't NEARLY as clean as the one in the picture (before it made it to GA, it had been USED in the woods of northern Michigan, and had the rust and dents to show it), she was more held together by rust, luck and duct tape.......but she had a 390 and a "three on the tree" (yes, Ford purists, I know that the 1968 F250 wasn't available with a big block and a three-speed, I have no idea who did it but it was FUN to drive) with about 4 1/2 feet of exhaust pipe coming off dual Hooker headers and no mufflers. I want another one in a very bad way, and I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for one that I can afford.

Nice. I once owned a 68 GTX convt. 440 with a 4 speed, and I have also had 6-426 Hemi Mopars, a 440+6, a T/A 340+6, and several 340, 383, and 440 cars.

I traded the 1968 GTX for a really fast car
1966 Nova 2 door post with bench seats and rubber floor mats
327/350 Muncie close ratio 4 speed with 4:56 gears, I blueprinted the engine, matched ports and ported the heads and unshrouded the valves, multi-angle valve Job narrowed the seats, cc'd the heads, milled heads .030 and intake to raise actual compression to 12:1, balanced all reciprocating parts
Actually drove the car back and forth to school
With 8:50 x 14" wrinkle walls could run 12:10 quarter mile time
Once ran an unofficial practice run @ 11:96 quarter mile at Brainerd Optmist drag strip
In Chattanooga
Not bad for a kid still in High School
What times!

Believe it or not, I had a factory 66 327/350 Nova too. It was Marina Blue or whatever they called it, and it was very fast, but it didn't handle too well. With the 9" drum brakes, it didn't stop all that well either. It was one of the most dangerous cars that I have owned...…….fast and not much handling or braking..

I remember the shifter was one of those Inland looking deals with the reverse lockout, and the air cleaner had 2 snorkels that pointed opposite from each other, toward the front inner fenders. Mine was all stock, and I think maybe 3.73 gears, not sure. I sold it in Hemmings, and had a call from Grumpy Jenkins about it.

I bought it in Erwin, Tn back when the World's Fair was in Knoxville. I was living in Knox then, and a guy from Iowa, in town for the fair, stopped and looked at it, but didn't buy it. I'm thinking I sold it for about $4,500 or so. It was in really good shape, and totally stock. I really don't remember who I sold it to.

First car I drove around town and high school was a 1951 Dodge Coronet. Wierd tranny. Heavy, slow car.

First car I owned was a 1959 Chevy Impala.

Your correct, the Chevy 11 Nova 327/350 was quite dangerous, I had ladder traction bars that went almost up to the back of the front doors and going around a curve even at moderate speed was difficult, not to mention the 10" x 2 1/2" or 3" drum brakes up front, (can't remember exactly the size)
I was into drag racing big time and remember reading one of the hot rod magizines that said the 1966 Nova 327/350 would "run away and hide" from any vehicle ever produced in Detroit, in the 1/4 mile..... I had to have one!
