What do you think about this...

D. Myles could move to corner. That was a rumor floating around on TOS last week.

Doubt it, especially with Berry officially gone. I think he would move to LB before CB. Unless we get Dixon, I think Myles stays at SS. JMO

outside of star rankings why are you and others speaking so highly of Myles like its his job to lose? He has to beat out Waggner and Raines first, something he had trouble doing this year.

We need some better depth at OL, LB, and CB next year. Lathers didn't look bad but, he certainly wasn't ready for that much responsibility this early, I think. I hope we have someone coming in to help remedy that problem on NSD.

I wish we could bring in a larger class this year than we are allowed, we need it considering all the dismissals and transfers since last season along with the natural, annual attrition from graduation and early draftees. Seems our guys are just getting worn out too much to take advantage of potential turning points in the third quarters of these games against quality opponents. Add some quality depth at these and the few other vacancies left by the departing seniors and this team would be setting fire to the SECE.

All hypothetical, I could see Janzen Jackson being moved to the same type of role Berry played in this year if we were able to pull a Dixon or a Dorsey. Both are plenty athletic to role deep at the safety like Janzen did this year. I think Janzen is a great tackler and would be very well suited being moved around on defense like Berry was this year.

Berry played linebacker this year (4-4-3). Jackson is not as compact as Eric and would get killed in that role. He is a FS or CB.

He consistently beat Waggner out this year....

with the rookie salry cap coming to being next year there want be near as many soph and juniors leaving school, they will stay and get education ,cause we all know a few that got drafted high made some big money now there out of football some are in jail and others just couldnt face the fact they signed a 4 or 5 year 25 million dollars thinking they would last a long time.go hog wild with money then get put on waivers after year 3 and never getting picked up or going to 5 teams in 14 months, then being told they havent got the talent to pla

is this fact or your opinion? Waggner was awful against Ole Miss but still got the start over Myles. Nothing I have read has suggested that Myles was consistently beating Waggner out all year, and the biggest indicator (playing time) would seem to disagree with you.

He consistently beat out Waggner. It was pretty well known Myles would have started against Ole Miss if not for the injury...

im not going to lie, i dont like how monte used berry this year. berry was such a hawk when it came tobeing around the ball and making interceptions. when monte moved himfather up close to the line i think it took him out of the plays and moved him away from his true talent of sniffing out coverages. it was almost like he used him as a blitzing lb all year and someone to just plug gaps
I think you're dead on...it hurt his draft stock a bit as he wasn't making the big plays he was previously. Immediately at the close of the draft last year, Mel Kiper Jr was asked who he thought would be a candidate for the top pick in this year's draft. He said EB....since then, it's dropped to being behind Suh, and maybe DT G McCoy.

Some of that may have to do with defenses not throwing to his side much on obvious passing downs, but I agree...Monte used him more like a 4th LB. Sadly...in a few games, that didn't seem to help much.

Berry is still the #1 player on McShay's board. I think he is #3 on Kiper's board but started the season as the #2 player behind Bradford. It didn't hurt is stock at all...

don't worry LV, anything this coaching staff does whether game or recruiting wise TENNacious is tenaciously opposed to it and lets us know. I guess since McShay has him #1 and Kiper dropped him behind two guys who had HUGE years it was Monte's fault.

Even with Berry close to the LOS our Rushing Defense was 65 in the Country. Even with Berry close to the LOS our Pass Defense was 12 in the country.

If Berry was guarding against the pass, we would have had an even worse Defense. Berry had to play the run.

With that said... Jackson and Berry are different players. If Jackson can bulk up a bit, he might be able to play close to the LOS like Berry did but I don't think Jackson can shed blocks from FB/TE like Berry could.

Those of you bashing art evans are wrong. I think he is a good cover corner, not great but good, he just may not play as physical as others. However, he did make a couple of nice tackles against VT.

Also, I think Rogan to safety is a legitmate possibility if we can get another CB to step up.

If he comes back next year.

We would have had the worst run defense in the SEC this year if we hadn't played Berry on the LOS.

Exactly. That doesn't mean that any SS/FS can just be plugged into that role.

Jackson played very well at FS and should stay there. Does anything think Michael Taylor has a chance for SS due to this role we've taken on? If he has coverage skills he could be a good fit. He's a good 15-25 lbs. from SEC LB playing weight at a minimum.
