What do you think our first offense play call will be?

Play action with milton under center. Then hit squirrel on a seem route for 60 yrds

Either a bomb down the left side or toss sweep. Honestly hope Tennessee takes advantage the qb option sweep offense all day I dont think anyone can stop us.

Pick six by Milton. Sorry to be a pessimist, but if you enjoy history, then you should know a game that comes down to Milton’s ability to throw isn’t going to end well…

Milton does not have a history of throwing picks.

I think you are not sorry to be the piss on the parade guy.

Edit

To answer the OP; my guess is an off tackle running play unless Joe sees that they are giving us something different.

Do we start our first drive to try to establish the run and be more run heavy or concentrate more on short pass plays? Does Milton take a deep shot downfield early in the game or does Heupel avoid a possible interception? What would you guys think? Also how does Heupel use Dee on offense if he is on offense?
Probably a short screen pass to Squirrel.

Quick screen to Thornton with Warren blocking. That is what I would do unless they see some alignment issue on film that they can exploit for a big one.

My OFFICIAL guess is a fake to the RB off tackle or wider with Joe dropping back in play action and doing that shuttle pass to the left guard hole with a wingback going where the whole defense has vacated chasing down the RB doing a great fake.
2nd play is identical alignment and fake the shuttle with a deep ball to a WR on a slant after safeties bit on the fakes.

Screen pass to squirrel, gain of 8 yards
Kind of what I figure as well. They’re going to be tight in the box. We’ll try to spread their front out a bit imo before we run it into a loaded box. Also will likely make their corners play tighter as well which makes the vertical passing game more effective. They’re going to load the box and make Milton beat them.

Not sure but I think UT will use two RBs at a time more in this game than Heupel has previously at UT. I won't be shocked if Wright or Sampson are targeted with a deep shot after Heupel schemes them to be isolated on a LB.

Should be Wright right up the gut…. Or fake that and throw a bomb to the goalpost route

Yes, we need to establish the run. However, it's more important that we establish OUR tempo. The WR screen has been pretty reliable at getting us positive yards on 1st down allowing us to get our 2nd play off quickly.

I suspect Heupel will make the big Aggies run all day. Something quick outside.

Being in good down and distance is the best thing for tempo. We have to mix it up, but our first play needs to be one we are confident in to 4-5-6 yards. At least positive yards. GBO

Come out in an offset I, really mess with their minds. Wright runs a wheel route and makes a catch for a 40 yard gain. Follow that up with a screen to Squirrel for 7 yards. Then a read option, Joe keeps for 15 yards. 1st and 10 at the 13, fade to Warren in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown.

My point isn’t in the throwing picks (although he does have a history considering he’s thrown 3 in two straight games, so in an unintentional way, I’m okay with you calling me out). My overall point is that he’s unreliable when it comes to being a down the field passer. So if it comes to relying on him, I don’t feel confident.

Number 0 on a handoff. Almost always the first play..

Three WRs, a TE, RB. One WR off on the short side, 2 WR on the long side one outside the numbers one in, TE probably starts lined up to the long side. Motion TE to the short side shifting the LBs to that side. Stack the two receivers before the ball is snapped. Pass is behind the LOS and depends on the front WR blocking to make positive yards. Maybe Keyton blocking for Squirrel.

either that, or we will probably have the three WRs spread as much as possible, flex the TE out. If the numbers allow it probably a run off the left side of the center. depending on the look it could be inside the tackles, or out, depending on how the D reacts to our TE moving.

Personally I hope its run, run, pass, or even run run run. but we have to mix up the runs. it can't be the same inside run play after play. Delayed hand offs have been pretty effective on medium to long third downs. Maybe sneak in a Milton run if he is feeling better. at least on the first drive to get their D thinking about it, even if they only use him once or twice.

YES - this game may very well be Thorton's Tennessee coming out party.
Some are not great 2nd string players, but do better when they know they are starting ... i.e. they put in the work and are actually ready.
Here is hoping that Thorton has been living with the jugs machine and it has been spinning them to him at 100 mph ... and he hasn't dropped a single ball. :^)
