Florida went 2-0 this week.Don't think we will drop below Florida. Both teams went 1 and 1 this week, both of our games were on the road. Would also mean we drop below Marquette which did not lose this week. Tough to see Florida going 1 and 1 but still jumping a team ahead of them that did not lose a game. Plus Florida's loss to Kentucky looks a little worse with Kentucky losing today.
yep, was thinking of Kentucky last week. Still not sure they will jump Marquette but maybe. Dropping 6 spots seems a little much for our first loss. If anyone watched the game I doubt they walked away thinking Florida looked great. They left us wide open all night and we could not hit anything from range. As many missed shots and as many lost rebounds we had they still scored 28 less points than they did against Kentucky.Florida went 2-0 this week.

I don’t mean this to be a smartass, but 90% of non-UT fans or casual observers who watched that game or saw the score thought, “holy ****, Florida beat the undefeated #1 team by 30. They’re the real deal.” I have close friends who are college basketball fans and watch games regularly but are not Tennessee fans, and they reacted that way. Florida is ranked in the top ten and their only loss is by 6 in Rupp Arena where they still scored 100 points. The margin of defeat in Gainesville will hurt us in the polls on Monday. I’ll stick with my prediction of #6 (since Alabama just won) - although 7th would not surprise me.yep, was thinking of Kentucky last week. Still not sure they will jump Marquette but maybe. If you think about it, college basketball rankings have little to no value, even at the end of the season. The only rankings that matter are the 1-68 S-curve the selection committee puts together.I find it's best not to think and just let the chips fall where they may.
Rankings don't matter much till after the Big Dance anyway.
Probably but I would argue that we would have lost anyone one of all but 1 or 2 or our games this season if we shot uncontested percentages like we did against FLA. I would also argue that most top ten teams would have scored 100 against any team that shot and rebounded as poorly as we did. FLA is good for sure and worthy of a top ten or even top 5 ranking but nothing THEY did in that game was the difference. Go look at the first 4 shots we (Chaz) took. All 4 were wide open. They continued to leave shooters open. I agree the margin will make a difference but had we shot even an average game we likely would have won. They shot under 40% from the field and had 12 turnovers. That is a recipe for a loss against most good teams. We missed 25 3 point shots, 10 out of 25 free throws and only hit 12 field goals in the entire game. Now certainly if you look at those numbers you could think "wow Florida plays D", but in reality we missed open shots from everywhere. My point is that I think it will make a difference between voters who watched the game (and have watched us play other games) and those who just read the box score.I don’t mean this to be a smartass, but 90% of non-UT fans or casual observers who watched that game or saw the score thought, “holy ****, Florida beat the undefeated #1 team by 30.
