What do you think this week rankings will be on Monday ?

Personally I think it's hard to justify KY jumping us. They also split this week, and they have 3 losses, this week to unranked Georgia. As far as our lone loss goes, stacked up against the rest of our season thus far I believe the bulk of AP voters will view the FL implosion as likely anomalous. It was a perfect storm game. No way they are 30 pts better than us, but we'll need to emphasize that point when they come to our place.

Bama is 5th with 2 losses. KY is 6th with 3 losses and a convincing loss same day as ours. So I think probably between Bama and KY, possibly just in front off Bama. Depends on how much they forget FL loss and remember TX road win. I expect Florida to leapfrog all three of us into 4th. So either 5th or 6th is my guess. Probably 6th.

Should be in the top 5. Still not many 15-1 teams out there.
The way we lost at Florida might make it 6 or 7.
Are there any undefeated teams in the NCAA or SEC now?

Probably but I would argue that we would have lost anyone one of all but 1 or 2 or our games this season if we shot uncontested percentages like we did against FLA. I would also argue that most top ten teams would have scored 100 against any team that shot and rebounded as poorly as we did. FLA is good for sure and worthy of a top ten or even top 5 ranking but nothing THEY did in that game was the difference. Go look at the first 4 shots we (Chaz) took. All 4 were wide open. They continued to leave shooters open. I agree the margin will make a difference but had we shot even an average game we likely would have won. They shot under 40% from the field and had 12 turnovers. That is a recipe for a loss against most good teams. We missed 25 3 point shots, 10 out of 25 free throws and only hit 12 field goals in the entire game. Now certainly if you look at those numbers you could think "wow Florida plays D", but in reality we missed open shots from everywhere. My point is that I think it will make a difference between voters who watched the game (and have watched us play other games) and those who just read the box score.
I agree with just about everything you said. No question our poor play was the biggest cause of what happened. I also think most would agree that any college basketball fan with no emotional tie to either team wouldn't ask themselves "what happened?" and take the time to look into it that level - especially if they didn't watch the game. This goes for the writers, as well - they may look at a box score and deduce that our shooting woes were the root cause, but they aren't breaking down film to form an in-depth, educated opinion. They're likely thinking, "Man, Florida manhandled Tennessee and their defense held them to 43 points."

I don't know what your point is here, and I'm not even sure of mine - what were we discussing? LOL

Kentucky will drop 1-3 places due to the Georgia game. They won't be ahead of us.

This isn't football, where the number of losses matter as much. Kentucky just won at #14 MSU which will offset their double digit loss at Georgia, but not completely wipe it out, so they will fall 1-2 places. Bama just won at #10 A&M, so they will move up to #4 (top 3 being Auburn, Iowa State, Duke). Florida will 100% not leap Alabama.

I don't care anymore at this point about the rankings. The #1 run was fun until it was done. As we've seen all ready, the SEC is a meat grinder. Got to win the home games and steal a few on the road. Hopefully no more 15% shooting nights from this team.
Nor should anyone. The AP and Coaches Poll rankings mean nothing in college basketball. The NCAA Tournament selection committee doesn't even rely on them when picking and seeding the field. They use the metrics of the NET rankings to guide them.

Being #1 made me uncomfortable anyways cuz u knew 1 loss and we were out. Greenberg has been saying Auburn is best team all year. I have to admit, that Fla game made me not believe in our hype. 30 points? I get losing to top 10 team on the road is no big sin but man. 30? I didn't think this team was capable of such a huge loss. Hopefully we're peaking come tourney time. Until then it's gonna be an up and down season imo.

I think that embarrassing UF loss helps us as a team in that our transfers will play with more of a sense of urgency. Everything except the Illinois game had been a cake walk. Dubar and Felix looked good against Texas and Lanier was due for a lesson in SEC competition.

MTSU was by no means a cakewalk, but your overall point still stands.

Don't think we will drop below Florida. Both teams went 1 and 1 this week, both of our games were on the road. Would also mean we drop below Marquette which did not lose this week. Tough to see Florida going 1 and 1 but still jumping a team ahead of them that did not lose a game. Plus Florida's loss to Kentucky looks a little worse with Kentucky losing today.
Florida’s loss was last week, not this week. We each have one loss. Our loss was a 30 point beatdown by Florida. Lol at “their Kentucky loss isn’t looking as good” when they just beat the brakes off of us head to head.

I think we are 5 come tomorrow. We only have 1 loss, even if it was a poor performance.

Agreed they played us very well but in the end we out-talented them for a solid win that was never in doubt most of the 2nd half. I do think MTSU is a, probably the, top team in their conference and a prime choice for a lower seed beating a much higher seed in the NCAAT.

I will just leave it at the UF loss waking up this team that their effort so far this year has been very good but will need to be taken to another level to be a true threat to win it all. Also, Barnes will have to adjust his coaching of his roster more during the season than usual as strengths and weaknesses of different players emerge under increased pressure. I like what he did vs Texas and feel like we are one of a dozen or so teams that can win it all if we play up to our potential and stay healthy.

Where should we fall, and where would any other team fall? 4 or 5. In fact, we’ll probably set a record for biggest drop by a #1 rank after going 1-1.

So we should be 4 or 5…..we’ll be 6 at best. Just behind Florida.

It doesn’t matter. Being #1 mattered. The rest doesn’t.
