beat our traditional rivals in the east and the big one in the west on a regular basis

There is nothing regular in the UT/Bama series. If you look at the won/loss record you'll see blocks of Bama wins and blocks of UT wins. There really isn't a lot of back and forth. But I get your point. UT should be able to hold its own against Bama, UF, & UGA.

The first set of priorities in no particular order.....

1. Recruit

2. Take back neyland stadium.

3. No losses to unranked teams

4. Create clear separation from the bottom feeders of the sec

Going well so far. Get a top 10 recruiting class this year. Go 8 and 4 next season plus a Bowl Win. I would then consider him to be pretty great.

Get top 15 recruiting class this year. Go 7 and 5 next season plus a Bowl Win. I would then consider him to be pretty good.

Get top 20 recruiting class this year. Go 6 and 6 next season plus a Bowl Win. I would then consider him to be pretty fair.

End thread...this++10000

I add beat Fla plus above n be really great in my book...

+ at least be competitive the whole game with the top feeders.

Our level of talent across the board and quality of depth are big issuses this season. there is no doubt this staff will coach them up. I believe if we win six and go to a bowl he has done one heck of job.

Not bad...The way I see it is UT's schedule breaks down to 8 games further broken down in 2 sections:

Oregon
UF
UGA
USC
Bama
--------------------
Missouri
Auburn
Vandy

All of those teams beat UT the last time they played. Granted, Oregon and Auburn were a few years ago, but still.

What happens if UT loses those 1st 5. Will they have anything in the tank to finish the season on a high note? Can Butch keep 'em motivated where Dooley couldn't?

For me it's a lot about how we compete and look on the field for the first two seasons. It would be nice to win but given where we are, if he can win half his games the first two seasons and recruit in the top 15 both season, that will be a success. The. Comes year 3 which is when I expect 8-9 wins and a top 10 class. Win 9 games year three with 3 top 15 classes, then were talking.

Win 1 of the top 5 and 2 of the bottom 3 and I think that would be a good season as far as talent level is concerned

Coaching lost Mizzou, Florida, Vandy, and UGA. Not bad playing. We fixed our problems.

All he has to do for me this year is get UT back in a bowl game and win. If UT gets 8 wins this year I will be ecstatic.

I hope that's the case. If so, and UT can win a game or 2 against UGA, UF, Mizzou, Vandy, & USC then they should be fine down the road with better recruiting.
