Win a game after being down at halftime. Dooley had 0-24 record when losing going into the half. This was something that really bothered me because it showed how weak of a motivator he was. When it comes to coaching, being a motivator is one of the top ingredients.
Win 6 games this season, show progress on the field with NO QUIT in the team for 60 full minutes, with one win being UGA or SC (or better), and NOT lose to UK or Vandy.
Sounds like a lot, but I don't think that's asking too much.
Agree, but lets not define success by what a clearly outmatched fired coach couldn't do.
8 wins (including a bowl) and I'll believe we're on the right track. Less than that and we're still mediocre.
It doesn't have to be impressive 8 wins is 8 wins.. I'll take it especially with our fan confidence and momentem going into the next season... Brick by brickWhat if UT is 7-5 in the regular season with wins over:
APSU
WKU
S. Alabama
Missouri
Auburn
Vandy
UK
Would you feel that "great" about the season? Most likely UT wouldn't have beaten anyone with a winning record.
Granted, an 8 win season is something UT hasn't seen in a while but there would be nothing impressive about that 8 win season.
Display a continuous pursuit of improvement.
do you really "expect" to beat florida or alabama on the road next season.[/QUOTE
Almost sounds like you're putting Florida and Bama in the same tier.....surely you're not....
heck no. alabama's on another level.
but, my reaction was based on several things......one of them being the "@" part of the deal.
but, in general, i am surprised at the confidence that some may still have despite what they have witnessed over the last few years, coaching change or not.
team hasn't had a winning season since 2009 and someone "expects" to beat the most dominant program in the country right now or another team that will be ranked (a team tennessee hasn't beaten since 2004) and both games will played on the road.
i can't remember the last time tennessee won a game on the road against a team that finished the season ranked.
that's what had me surprised

Yeh some ppls kids.
I consider; Can we out coach them ; or can we simply beat them on raw talent? Judging from what I saw in the O/W game, we have some bright spots, but we aren't going to be beating anyone worth a damn using either condition until something drastic changes. BJ may be a solid coach, but he has to turn a limping ford escort into a mustang gt pretty fast. Tall order.
Soundly defeat the few teams we will be favored against this coming season.
Be competitive for 4 quarters against the rest.
Put a defense on the field that doesn't look lost, dolesn't take bad angles on every play, swarms to the ball, and knows how to tackle.
B*tch-slap that Vandy coach at midfield after b*tch-slapping the dores.
