What happened to Devrin Young at Punt/Kickoff returns ?

I'm looking forward to seeing what Lemond Johnson and Malik foreman can do. Wouldn't surprise me to see either of those guys competing for that job from day 1 of fall camp. Marquez north was a damn good returner also.

I think DY does a decent job catching the ball. I am more concerned with his lack of speed and tripping over the 35 yard line on several occasions.

He can get knocked off his pins a bit too easily at times it seems but I'm bewildered by the speed comment. He's no CP (And to reiterate, how many are?) but his speed is well vetted. As a matter of pure Point A to Point B speed he's easily one of the fastest on the team.

I hear all this talk about Jacob carter and Pig howard being considered for Punt/Kickoff returns. I thought Devrin did a decent job last year of the same. Just wondering whats going on with this.

The coaches see these guys everyday in practice. They know far more than we do about their consistency and reliability. Yes...Young is electric, but if he's struggling or another player is doing a better job then.....? Bottom line is, this isn't our coaches first rodeo. We as fans should put some trust in their judgement. Go Vols!

IMO- Devrin should have been a walk on a UT.Carter is a walk on and has been the most consistent. Pig is a four star, but you don"t want him to get hurt. The coaches know best. They will figure it out. It could be somebody that's not on campus yet... Jenkins maybe
