Danny has always had weird takes, and I dont agree with this one. To us its another player coming and going but to these guys its their lives. Ive always maintained that as long as you dont outright purposely hurt the program your a VFL, even if you leave. thats just me tho.
I'll be honest. I have a hard time thinking of a player as a Vol "For Life" when they couldn't even stay a Vol for the duration of their eligibility.

But maybe that's just me.

I always wonder if the players actually write these or if someone in the AD writes them. They all seem to similar for me to think each individual player is coming up with these. At the very least, someone proofreads them.

An ex-jock in a constant struggle to remind people he once played football and is relevant.

I just like good honest takes regardless of who it came from. And there’s a lot of truth in Kannell’s take imo

I played with a lot of guys that loved their teammates, coaches, and the university but transferred to have an opportunity to play, myself nor my teammates held a grudge against them its just part of doing business and college athletics is a business.
This the problem for me and others.

Like many here have said it’s completely understandable to want playing time in college. We have no idea the conversations that are had between the players and coaches. There’s a good chance a lot of these players are told that it’s in their best interest to look somewhere else.

With that being said, I think they need to fix the timing of the transfer portal. It’s difficult because these players are trying to find spots in time to be enrolled during the Spring, but it’s also a lot to ask for teams in the playoffs to be actively managing the transfer portal while preparing for the playoffs. Meanwhile teams not in the playoffs can put most of their effort into the portal

Look it’s not always the kids fault, unfortunately as soon as you commit the staff is already recruiting someone as good or better. THATS HOW YOU GET BETTER. It’s not always kids looking for money , I know some do not always. Let’s be real, how many kids now days committed because they truly wanted to be at said school ? Loyalty is all but gone now days.
