What Heup had to say after the game

Heupel is a young coach neither good or bad. His future will be determined by how well he recruits in the future and how he addresses evident problems in his staff. I've said 8-4 would be a good finish for this group of players and coaches. Last season was a fluke in a sense in finding lightning in a bottle with Hooker and a corp of NFL caliber receivers who could put up enough offense to overcome the stagnate defense. Time will tell but not doing anything different on Heup's part could be his undoing.

There’s not a single Jajuan Jennings or Al Wilson type on the field that demands everyone raise their level of play.
Totally agree. Also, need a QB with some competitive fight in him. Milton has had a respectable season, but Hooker was a competitor that wouldn’t back down.

We were spoiled last year, it was a fun ride. This year honestly would be considered a success had it not been for last year. Next year UT will take another step but which way it goes is hard to say. Rebuilding an entire OL with a young QB isn't exactly a recipe for success. Guess we'll see, 25-11 isn't terrible through 3 years but 8-4 seasons won't cut it here long term.

Pretty damn good to do what he's done with the dumpster fire he took over. What did you know anyway? You look just as clueless when you discuss Barnes.

Great coaches don’t have teams that unprepared, unmotivated or undisciplined.
Sure they do. I’ve seen it happen under Saban. Now I haven’t seen it multiple times in the same season like we’ve seen this year with Florida and Mizzou, at least not that I recall.

I’m not talking about losing a game. That happens to everyone. I’m talking about not showing up for a game and being completely inept in all facets of the game. If there was a Saban-led team that wasn’t the Dolphins that lost by 29 points, I can’t remember it; at least not while he was at Bama.

He should have took the ball to start the game and ran Milton more. The last few games Milton played better running and rolling out and I didn't see much of that.

He is missing a top tier QB on offense and quality defensive secondary.

A quality QB and we are in this game.

Joe is just not the one.

The biggest issue I have is Nico isn’t ready to play or CJH’s biggest flaw is too loyal to his QB but maybe Nico was hurt early which has truly prevented him from being ready.
Nico is ready mentally. He just needs to put on some weight. He needs to redshirt.

Losing Hadden and Bru has really hurt.
Mizzou's team didn't have Burden and look at how everyone else stepped up to compensate. Yeah, Burden played a few downs, but he wasn't anywhere close to game ready. Where's our team elevating their play to make up for the injured players? Where are our backups at corner and WR stepping in like they've been coached? Do they get any reps in practice or are they standing off to the side watching the seniors work?

Holy ****. Relax dude. Dude vastly overachieved last year and made expectations silly this year apparently lmao. Yes the loss was ugly but this team was always an 8-4/9-3 team and surprise surprise here we are.
I would say he underachieved last year

Not time to even think about any HC change. To win a SEC Championship it is going to take better recruiting. I'm not ready to jump ship with CJH!

Wild ain’t it. His seat is nowhere near warm. But these random losses where we flop are just mind boggling

The field goal at the end of the game just about got me off the Heupel finesse garbage train..Figure out you have to be physical in this league or be the next to be fired in a few more flop around years..The running game is simplistic in nature and the linemen aren't really that big.. More of a get in your way line than push you out of the way. The scheme May not make it here without some tweaks..
For what it's worth, UCF fans refer to it as the "4 play offense" that avoids the middle of the field.

Does Heupel make the tough decisions and shed some of his coaches that are underperforming? I mean, there's a reason Martinez is basically a journeyman coach and doesn't last anywhere long. Banks...I'm about over that defense that makes even average QBs look great.

Whoever is calling the plays on offense. That first series in the first quarter was horrible.

Offensive line...I was a big believer in the OL coach last year, but I am asking the question, why in year 3, do we not have better depth and more guys that can play. Did we whiff on a whole recruiting class there? Can't we get some freshman in the game at this point in the season?

Will we sit guys that aren't getting it done, no matter their seniority. There's things that irks me, like Wright running out of bounds on that first series. That was weak sauce. Go for the first down man.

Listless. Too easy going. Noone on that team or coaching staff to get in someone's face. No fire. You're getting your ass handed to you. Get mad. Get in someone's face. How many times have we had certain players get stupid personal foul penalties... one player has had several stupid penalties this year. Is there no one there to sit him down and chew him out?

Just some stupid #$@$. I hope this stings bad enough for Heupel and others there that they will learn from it. If we don't address some glaring weaknesses in the offseason, I'm not sure Heupel will be able to take the next step up.
No one knows how Heupel does things behind closed doors. Maybe he is fire and brimstone, but all we have is what we see in the press conferences. When I hear him talk, it's the same verbage, the same platitudes. I see this...

If he's really this laid back all the time, I can see where a team will eventually tune the guy out and take on that persona. Might explain some of our games where it just looks like we didn't want to be there.

Frustrated with not getting off the field on 3rd downs…?

After three years, I’m surprised when they do get off the field on 3rd down
We overlooked awful defense last season because our offense was so spectacular, and it didn't really hurt us. Now that our offense is limited, the defensive woes are simply glaring. I'm tickled that we're getting all this defensive talent in recruiting, but I'm starting to worry that with Banks it's like someone giving me a set of tools and letting me under the hood of a car. I wouldn't know the first thing about what to do with them.

We just need to go portal shopping. 8 spots should be Secondary and Offensive Line.

We have to make a commitment to the secondary and that means portal/NIL and getting rid of Martinez.

His post was reasonable and he went out of his way to say that time will tell. That’s how non douche bags say they aren’t able to predict what will happen. Maybe we could get you a translation card?

Utah game. Granted, that was a bowl game.

#44 looked awful all game. Surely someone is better. Slow as Christmas and terrible angles. Really really bad.
Mizzou's little RB made him look bad. He had the right angle's but all day long their RBs were too fast for him to make any contact. The youngster is a step slow to play in the SEC. He's not the first nor will he be the last.
