Your assuming that everything would've played out exactly the same. Assuming that they would be running the same offense or making the same play calls with Peyton's skills set.

I credit an Orange Bowl ass whoopin by Nebraska for the championship season more than any other single event. Every championship run has it's share of good fortune (thanks Clint), but being overconfident and having your ass handed to you, then having an offseason to think about it, was a great motivator.

Jamaal Lewis did not know the pass blocking scheme early in his freshman year. So, play him early on, he misses a key block on a blitzing L.B. or Safety. P.M. suffers an injury and is out for the season.
P.M.'s senior season is over!!!!!!!!

Intriguing speculation. However, Tee also was only 9-26 passing for 143 yards in his first game as starting quarterback. In this particular scenario, I dare say that Peyton would have been far more effective in the passing game. Hence, winning the game probably would not have hinged on the quarterback successfully converting that late fourth-quarter scramble.

Yes they did....had to beat KSU....but with all that said....that loss and the Miami Loss resulted in FSU some how jumping OSU to make it...

Syracuse game is a great point also. Manning does not make that run. Face it a Dual Threat QB was what won it for us....We haven't had one since....have we?

It's not a great point at all. I'd bet with Manning we win the Syracuse game by a much bigger margin. In other words, he wouldn't have needed to make the run.

And yeah, it's was ALL the dual threat QB that won it for us. The UT defense didn't have one thing to do with it. Or some incredible luck.

Missing his point!!...extremely possible that PLAY wouldn't have been vital if Peyton had us already winning by 20.

Peyton is my dude, through and through but he wasn't infallible.

And the same Peyton that started a win streak against Bama...neither point pertaining to the Mcnabb led Syracuse team...we'd have waxed em with Peyton and Jamal.

I don't know if we would have waxed them, but the reasoning as to why we won only because of some Martin run is silly.
