What if Strong says no and stays at UL?

Not a VFL imo

Quotes like this are just plain ignorant. There are a lot of people here who would rather have someone else as coach. Just because someone may prefer a different coach who has yet to be hired, that does not make them any less of a Vol fan than you. Whoever the person who liked this comment is just as ignorant too.

I can't believe we are going to pass on butch. By far best boom hire we could make.

Yep. After Gruden, Stoops, Petersen, and Patterson he is the best and most safest hire. Better than Strong by a large amount.

We all have different opinions but I would urge people to do your homework on him and think about the difference between facilities at Louisville and UT.

You remember the guy that done the story on how Dooley ignored local high schools? The same guy asked some of the top recruits in TN and GA how they would react to TN hiring Gruden, you can imagine the response. The only other coach that got a rise outta them was Charlie Strong.

We'll see. I hope i'm wrong and CCS does a great jov here but i see a coach who is only a slight upgrade over the guy we just ran off.

Between Gundy and Strong, I'd take Strong all day long. Gundy's teams play zero defense. Is that what we need right now? I don't believe Strong would say no to UT. I can't imagine any coach outside of the SEC turning down a big time SEC school unless you are talking about historical football schools like Southern Cal, Notre Dame etc. If they ask, he will say yes.

That like saying betwee syphyllius and and and the clap, I will take the clap

Lol, I see you don't follow recruiting much. Hatcher, Bell, Quick, North, Green, and Ramsey are all guys that we likely get now. We will probably have to tell some of the current commits to look elsewhere.

Better make sure we get Tee on an airplane then. If there is anything more ridiculous than all the rumors florum around on this thread, it's the "locks" we read about in the recruiting threads.

Then we are exactly where we are now. Trying to convince a coach that this job wont ruin his career.

Strong is at best, a seven win coach here. Arkansas just hired a guy that will immediately be a threat to win titles. If Strong is indeed our coach, get ready for more Dooleyesque performances for three or four years and then we'll be right back where we are now. Looking for another coach.

EXACTLY. But next time. Minus me

Comparing who he recruited to Louisville to who he will recruit here is asinine. Have you ever seen their facilities? Jalen Ramsey took a visit there and loved Strong but didnt want to go to Louisville. There is a good chance he decommits from USC and signs with us now.

Louisville has great facilities.

Well if UT gets turned down by a UL coach we all need to look in the mirror..... What's next George Quarrles saying no?

I've actually interviewed the guy a couple of times. I like him- more than the other names being floated on "Hart's List."

Doesn't mean that I think he will be as successful a recruiter here as he was at Florida.

I am starting to hear from the Louisville forums that Strong is a no-go.

For a over a week, these boards were lit up with people swearing they knew 100% that Gruden was going to sign on. Thanks to this debacle, I put ZERO weight on any rumors posted in forums.

We all know that this hire is risky, but so is this job. If I were a candidate I would think long and hard about it. Well, I wouldnt. I was born n raised here, but you know what I mean.
