What is going on with Georgia recruiting?

Hey Ktowndawgg. Did Georgia ever take a serious look at getting Fuente? Feel like they blew a golden opportunity. I know Smart was wanted because he played there, but to me he seems worse than Richt. I think Justin Fuente would have taken Georgia to a national championship level.

Our AD, McGarity is a grade A asshat. He had decided he wanted Smart at some point in September or October. He spent the last 4 games hoping UGA would lose so it would look like he was forced to fire Richt. Richt won out, but McGarity fired him anyway. Then pretended to use a search firm who gave him one name, Smart. In short, no. The fix was in.

Over the last few months they've been picking up crazy amounts of very highly rated recruits despite their lackluster season. Do kids really want to play for Smart that badly? I would have imagined recruiting to slow down for the Dogs but Smart's doing better than even Richt.

They have a real good QB will be in his 2nd season. Both running backs will be back. They will probaly be picked to win the SEC east next year.

Talent wise yes. Coaching wise. Not so much. Especially as long as they have Chaney running the offense.

Can't say Chaney has impressed many. He will have a QB with a full season under his belt and talent back at rb. If he sucks again next year, many will be calling for his job. I promise you, many UGA fans were at halftime of our bowl game.

I've told some of my UGA friends before he arrived they would hate him. The offensive numbers will look great. But his situational play calling will leave you yelling at the TV.

He won't have the same protection in Athens as he did in T-town.

True. See Aj Green and Todd Gurley. Unlike Auburn and Ole Miss, our master plan has always been to snitch on ourselves to the NCAA, grab our ankles and say "thank you, may I have another".

Sounds eerily similar to the UTK 'tell them everything and they may go light on you' approach. I'm to the point that anytime the NCAA comes knocking a school would be better off telling them to go kick rocks. It seems as if they only have power if a school allows them to have it.

Bingo.

Knock knock
Open door
"Hi, we are the NCAA"
Raise middle finger
Close door

Eason is the recruiting pitch. He's going to develop more and be really good.

Eason looked like slaw in their bowl game. Pretty poor pitch from my perspective. You are in the thick of it though. Thanks for your contributions.

I know that we've had multiple 4* from GA the past 3 classes. This year, none so far. Auburn is hurting even worse as they usually get elite GA recruits. Aside from Kirby stepping hit up, it looks like the schools that have done the best job at squeezing in at the trough are SC and the Ville. SC I understand because it's close and Muschamp has relationships there. Louisville is a little more of a head scratcher.

Difference is he has a lot more talent than butch had. I don't see the struggling for 3 years the way we did and I am concerned about them more than uf.

Oh no, Smart definitely started with a better hand than Butch. That doesn't really change my point though. He's selling recruits on the idea that he can turn that program into a powerhouse with their help. Same message Butch sold recruits for 2-3 years.

Only difference is that in light of their respective starting hands, Smart might not get as long a leash as Butch did. UGA brass may expect results much sooner. Sales pitch is the same though.

Dramatic increase in the crime rate amongst juveniles most likely.

If AtlantaVol is to be believed, the money has begun flowing big time at UGA since Smart arrived. Said it always has, as it is at all schools, but he said it's flowing on a completely different level since Smart.

If true I can guess where he learned that strategy

I agree I'm just saying with talent he's pulling in it will mask a lot of deficiencits. I do believe talent is biggest part if they are remotely coached up. Don't dismiss them if they continue to recruit like this even with mediocre coaching if we don't step up our recruiting I think we will be OK now trouble. It's about jimmies and Joe's and right now the past 2 classes they have destroyed us. He's recruiting top notch depth something butch has not done well since being here. He's recruitingredients what it takes to win championships even butches classes were not this solid top to bottom
