What is the future of California?

the burning questions are how much is going to be burned, and can we save lives. in an emergency nothing else matters.

the who, what, why, and what comes next of it don't matter while people are still in danger.
As I can tell right now, fires are still burning out of control.

Seems to be lack of resources and lack of water.

Also, reports LA city was trying to use helicopters that cannot carry much water to put out fires, not until fires got out of control LA county heavy water dumpers were employed...

I've seen a post from someone in LA that the fire fighters have "given up" on anything north of I-10 and west of the 405.

I lived for 3 years not far from where those two freeways cross. I know those neighborhoods very well. There are a lot of working class neighborhoods between the 405 in West LA and the city of Santa Monica which is more upscale. Father north is Pacific Palisades, of which whole sections have already been lost.

There are literally thousands and thousands of homes in this area. If fighting the fire in their is not possible due to manpower, logistics, and the conditions, the scope of the unfolding disaster is going to be beyond comprehension. It will be like Dresden because the fire will move from home to home to home, block after block after block.

When the sun comes up, we might see scenes that have never been seen before in a city the size of LA. East of the 405 -- wind is blowing to the west towards the ocean -- is UCLA, Westwood, Brentwood, and Bel Aire.

Someone on X said that LA cut its fire Dept budget and insurors started cancelling insurance...again this is from X and not verified.

Conspiracy theories abound with insurances cancelled and no water available to put out fires.

Will FEMA step in and bail out wealthy people while people in NC still do not have a house to live in is burning question right now
update on info I found as to why insurance companies cancelled policies:

more info on insurance being cancelled

Loss of insurance coverage in CA has nothing to do with some conspiracy related to the fires.

The Calif legislature and Gov. Newsom have ruined the insurance market in Calif with regulations and requirements for coverage that make doing business unprofitable.

Insurers have been pulling out of the Calif market one by one for years. For a decade it has been more and more difficult, and more and more costly, to get full coverage for losses like this.

They even went to the extent of setting up a state program where you buy basic fire coverage from the state -- at ridiculous rates and bare minimum coverage -- just so mortgage companies would lend money.
