Sounds like a decent pastime. I wouldn't expect much of the game atmosphere at UA or ASU. People don't often think of it this way, but in the grand scheme of college football, they're both still somewhat recent major conference additions. ASU was the Boise State of the 70's, playing in the WAC and regularly beating big programs in down years in the Fiesta Bowl. They then got Nebraska during a Big 8 championship year in the 75 Fiesta Bowl, beat them, which ended up vaulting them in to the Pac.

/geeking out on some cfb history, point is, major college ball in Arizona is still a relatively new thing, and even at smaller Pac-12 atmospheres like OSU and WSU you can find decent tradition.

The most disappointing stadium atmosphere I've experienced is our own stadium every 2nd half this year when all of the "fans" decide to up and leave in the 3rd quarter. Sometimes I think they should lock all of the gates and not let anyone leave until the game is over unless they have a real emergency.

The 2 most disappointing have been Neyland and the Miami Dolphins' stadium. Neyland used to be really intense in the late 90's and early 2000's, but it has changed dramatically. It's pretty pathetic that so many people refuse to cheer and want everyone around them to be quiet all the time. UT needs to lower the ticket prices and let the rowdy fans come back.

When I went (2006 Vandy-UM), the fans were more interested in the wave. The guy next to me even said, "Watch this, now we'll do it in slow motion." And after that he said, "Now the wave goes in both directions." He was so excited that I was sure he creamed his pants when the waves collided in the student section.

The level of intelligence in classes at um do not necessarily reflect the level of intelligence in the stands on Saturdays.

I'm pretty sure that could fit for 2,4,6,8,or 10 years ago. That is usually one crappy game.

November 2006 I do believe. It was literally like 68 degrees the night before, and it felt great outside. We got tore down at Cheapside Bar & Grill the night before. Dropped 740.00 on the Gold Card, climbed in a van that was bound for campus, but got pulled out at the last minute by my buddies. Blacked out on the cab ride back to the Hampton.

Fast foward to the next morning, I walk outside the hotel and it's spitting ice for heavens sake. The last place I wanted to go was to Commonwealth, but dammit I'm a trooper.

Wyoming @ UT. Enough said.

I was a little disappointed as well after hearing about the aurora of Neyland. Then again both Wyo and Tenn were having terrible seasons that year.

It was a game of the walking dead with both Joe Glenn and Fulmer knowing it was the end of both their careers. So i guess I expected too much but I still had a great time. Vols fans were very classsy and welcoming, they earned a OOC fan that day.

Most disappointing atmosphere: Any game at Colorado St. or Colorado Those damn hippies know nothing about football.

If you're "disappointed" when you go to Vandy, then your expectations are too high. When you go to Vandy, you should expect, by far, the worst home football atmosphere in the SEC. Thus, the experience itself should never be "disappointing."

The '98 vandy game atmosphere was pretty awesome...

The thing is, it wasn't just the crowd that was lame.

The music sucked, the jumbotron videos sucked, the band was average- there was just zero atmosphere.

I was at the game also...and I think it may have depended where you sat whether the crowd was excited. I was in a section full of young grads that have season tickets, all knew each other, stood the ENTIRE GAME (I didn't mind it much, but my old back rebelled a bit), screamed for every defensive play like they're supposed to, and drank throughout the game. So in my section, the atmosphere was perfectly exciting until the game was out of reach.

The empty seats in the upper deck end zone were the returned tickets from Va Tech...that is the visitor's section at Bobby Dodd, from what I can tell.

1981 in Commonwealth Stadium....Temps were in the low 30s with ice on the seats...It had snowed the night before and the wind was swirling around and it was wet and cold and miserable...UT took a 10-0 lead and the bottom fell out an We ended up losing 21-10....I hate Kentucky

I was at that game....me and 3 friends drove up Sat morning, woefully ill-prepared with only windbreaker jackets, no gloves, etc, because the weather was nice in Knoxville and we didn't check what it was gonna be in Ky. Miserable weather, miserable game, miserable time had by all.

The Horse shoe in Columbus, after being in Neyland, I felt like we could have been in a library.
