Snakes have a pretty good sense of smell. Once I was sitting on Mississippi River bank eating sardines ... and I started seeing snake heads in the water, looking at me with they beady eyes. That wasn't too bad ... until I realized, I was sitting on riprap rock which was full of voids and crevices ... a great place for snakes!

I never take any advice from anyone about snakes that call venomous snakes "poisonous" snakes. Poison is a harmful substance that is ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Venom is a harmful substance that is injected into a subject by a snake, insect, fish, ect

If it’s a baby, look at the tail if you think it’s a copperhead, a baby copperhead has a yellowish tale. They also have an hourglass configuration.

He was something else. He hated snakes, had some tall tales about them.

Yesterday my wife came back to my office and wanted me to walk quietly towards the back of our home. Just outside the sliders, past the lanai, there was a huge black snake climbing a palm tree. It was looking for those little lizards we have down here. I see all snakes as CHWR's! I'm getting used to the black snakes because I know they're harmless and they keep the water moccasins, rattlers away, but still.

I've only been aware of two truly funny comedians and story tellers in my lifetime. Legends that anyone should go back and listen to and read their books. Lewis Grizzard and Jerry Clower.

Both of those guys are great. I grew up listening to old Jerry Clower tapes.

That's a fat & happy rat snake. Looking at the shape looks like he ate a bird or a couple eggs. Now he's letting that sun help his digestion.
