What needs to happen to host playoff?

We could already be hosting. Keep in mind that Ohio Stafe won't make B1G Championship now, Penn State or Indiana will.

A bad scenario might be Oregon losing in B1G Championship and taking our spot.

Notre Dame, Georgia, Penn State, and Tennessee look like the 4 hosting sites with Texas (if they win out), Oregon (if they win out), ACC Champion, and Big12 Champion getting the bye.

SEC still has a lot to play out so not sure about Georgia and Texas in my setup. Ohio State losing makes B1G interesting as well.

Not really. In the event Oregon loses to Penn State in the Big 10 title game, Penn State will get auto bye, Oregon drops to the 5 seed....

We have no shot at the 5 so it would just be swapped with Penn State and Oregon loser

Good point. Indiana could make it though. Not sure of B1G tie breaker rules. However, we want Oregon to win out.

Tennessee is last team to host in (assuming Ohio State falls behind us).

Stop it.... Penn State is not losing to Maryland which would send Indiana to the title game..... It WILL be Oregon vs Penn State for Big 10 title.

it was presumed this week (which is worthless) that the Big 10 was getting 4 teams in. 3 of them (except Indiana) were ahead of Tennessee. So, Ohio state will now not be ahead of Tennessee. The idea that one of these 4 teams will be getting a loss in the championship game is not really factored in to their week-to-week projections. You just project based on who you are now. So instead of 3 ahead of Tennessee there's a pretty likely chance that 3 of them will be behind Tennessee when it's all done, after somebody gets a conference champ game loss.

Both Indiana and Penn State have only 1 loss ans they did not play. Why is Penn State going over Indiana? They both lost to Ohio State. Do you know the B1G tiebreaker scenario?

Not necessarily. Ones that have championship game implications and automatic tie ins may not matter as much. Need PSU, Indiana or Notre Dame to lose the most.
But a 2-loss team losing in a championship game would likely fall behind TN too. (IE> If uga loses to TX or aTm, uga would fall behind TN.)

Michigan? I know Penn State beat Michigan, but did Indiana play them this season?

Big 12 isn't guaranteed a Bye. Right now Boise would get it

We are in a good spot right now.

OSU coming off a loss to a poor Michigan team will drop them. Texas losing to a 3 loss A&M wiill drop them. The one game that would solidify Tennessee hosting a playoff game is the Trojans beating Notre Dame.
After the OSU loss I got Ohio St coming to knoxville in an 8/9 matchup
