What other message boards are saying (Bama post game)

This is exactly why I have said NIL has killed college sports.
All NIL did was let everyone else do what Bama has been doing for decades. It was the great equalizer. Which is why every SEC team is getting beat by other SEC teams (AtM and LSU will be shortly)
NIL has finally brought parity to the sport and you now have over a dozen teams food enough to win the Natty, not just the usual top 3 or 4 suspects.
So in a sense it has revitalized the game

Once Saban saw the writing on the wall, that EVERY school could now pass out Escalades to recruits, and he could no longer buy roster depth through under the table bribes, he took a look at his roster, and the competing rosters, and ran like a scared %$#@ to an announcer job.

He was a heckuva coach, no doubt about that, maybe the best ever, but its likely that a LOT of that was due to 'enthusiastic' alumni and booster support. Spyre and the other collectives can now match and/or beat Bama, and Saban wanted no part of that.

Kudos to the old-timers who have stayed and tried to win under the new system. Saban did not have that in him.

Maybe some truth to this, but Saban is 70 years old. He can’t coach forever.

I don’t dislike him and can see his potential, but the huge money is the elephant in the room that changes everything. If not for the crazy NIL fans would be much more patient and sympathetic. It is what it is and no amount of cliches changes it.
Why does ANYONE care how much money a player is making?

For it to be the great "equalizer" you speak of, it would require all schools to have the same budget and a limit to what players can make. Remember these are 17-25 year old kids being exposed to large amounts of money, in al lot of cases, for the first time. With youth comes inexperience and immaturity. I know I would not have been able to handle 10s of thousands responsibly at that age. When you have walkons on a team, making very small amounts, 2-3 star players making a pittance, and "stars" making a fortune, it will by nature destroy a locker room. It will be harder to get a VFL if it is a mercenary culture. The money that has been going to venue and facility improvements is now diverted to paying the players. Also, you would have to have a revenue sharing across ALL of college sports to truly make it fair. You only think it is good because it pulls more money to this conference. Don't the other players that work just as hard get to draw from this pool. They probably come from the same socioeconomic situations as the "star" players.

The final straw in my diatribe involves the changes to the attitude toward players brought on by NIL. Can you honestly tell me that the venom rained toward Nico would be as strong as it is, from some on this site, if he weren't making $2 million a year? Think about it for a minute before you answer. Do I think that players should be able to earn money, ABSOLUTELY! Do I think ANY athlete deserves to make as much as they do in today's society, ABSOLUTELY NOT. There are other youths that have much more potential to have a real effect on society, from medical breakthroughs to Engineering marvels to the next Einstein of theoretical physics that come from the exact same socioeconomic situations that can't even attend college because they can't afford it. Please don't preach to me about how underprivileged these athletes are. I know of many young people that are brilliant, that have to end up working in a dead end job because they couldn't get a piece of paper that college "student" athletes scoff at. I can't stand the high and mighty that justify a failed institution because their school gets to win a game or two.

If Saban is against it then that means its bad for him and good for everyone else. He is a smart man he knew the NIL would mean he could no longer get every 5* recruit he wanted, so he just got out while is reputation was still good.

And as another poster said, he is 72 I believe.

Any of us who knew Alabama and the culture there, knew that this guy would probably wish he was back in Seattle by 2026.
Not that there isn’t natural beauty in Alabama, but can you imagine moving your family from the Seattle area (when you made enough money that cost of living was no issue at all) to Tuscaloosa? Ain’t no Mount Rainier or Puget Sound in Alabama. Not to mention the heat.

The latest “cope” from Bama (who still has never lost to an inferior team 😉)

Milroe was injured 😂😂😂

So, if this is true and they played Milroe it tells me that they think a health Ty Simpson is no where as good as an injured Milroe. Helps me feel better that Simpson went to Alabama. But I thought that Jackson from Indiana was a better QB anyway at the time.

At least we have a final straw on this. I was worried when you said your soapbox would be continuous. Probably shouldn't have written that as you will now probably keep on with it.

As for your comments here. Welcome to professional sports.

Nico and the other kids in the sports world need to grow up. They do not need to be governed in everything by others who suppose themselves to be in charge.

It's not like the old fashioned "honest" amateur sports world was a bastion of responsibility, but again, you just ignore that when it is pointed out.

It is true that many do not have the best upbringing, but they are still responsible because they learned how to do it and took it upon themselves to do so. I happen to know someone who had nowhere near the best upbringing and knocked it out of the park.

Your modern liberalism is the problem. Everyone needs to be governed because they just can't be responsible. Of course, that government is by those who cannot be responsible themselves. Vote for Heels up in November. You fit right in with that.

That will never happen. But before NIL some could get away with paying players but others couldn’t for fear of NCAA. The system is much more fair now. See Vandy, see army-Navy. Much more parity, there is no denying this. GBO

I dont think he was injured. I think the hits and pressure he took all game wore on him. The last few passes he threw he was hurrying through them. On the final pick, he never set his feet with the 2nd reed. His feet was still pointed at the 1st one. Hince the ball being thrown behind. Our defense wore them out lol

I was responding to the stories that were using the possible injury as an excuse. I saw no evidence of injury.

Yeah….. you get out of liberal poon land and end up in the squalor of Tuscaloosa ….surrounded by unkempt Bammers

Army and Navy hurt your argument. They have zero NIL and zero transfers.

There is more parity but those two aren't examples of it via NIL
