What Other Message Boards Are Saying: Georgia Bulldogs Edition

Welcome aboard! I feel your pain. My wife is a Georgia fan, and I've sent her to her sisters for the week. Her return depends on the outcome Saturday! Jk

I'd never let her back in the house unless to pay the bills :)

After us they still have to go to Mizzou, to Arkansas, play 4-0 Ga Tech and they would have to play the SEC-W Champ.... and Aaron Murray is gone.

They don't have playoff hopes.

LOL @ 4-0 Ga Tech!!! Been beating them senseless since well before Murray. And Mizzou, you mean the one that just lost at home to Indiana? That one? Arkansas gets me nervous yes but their strength is their running game and the front four is UGAs strength so let's go. BTW, the Hogs QB is worse than Mason and they can't stop a decent running team either so I still like the chances.

I understand and fully concur that losing to Vandy under any circumstances is both embarrassing and humiliating. However, no defeat by Vandy during the modern era of college football remotely qualifies as "one of the worst losses in program history." To find losses of that magnitude within the series, you have to look back to the pre-World War I portion of Dan McGugin's career. From 1902-1913, they beat us eight consecutive times, five of which were by shutouts. The worst of these losses occurred in 1903, 1905 and 1909, when they won by the scores of 40-0, 45-0 and 51-0, respectively (Tennessee vs Vanderbilt 1869-2013). Hopefully, this will illustrate more precisely the context within which Neyland was eventually hired and given the directive to "even the score with Vanderbilt."

Just outsider looking in here, I think the thing that had to make last year's Vandy loss tough to swallow is that it would have secured a bowl game for your program.

That statement right there is total foolishness. Yes that loss hurt, but with a Freshman QB and limited receivers, what did you expect? Now that drubbing in 2012 was probably the worst loss in UT history.

TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!!!

Not foolish at all imo. It absolutely was one of the worst team/coaching performances by UT in my lifetime. We threw for 50 or so yards vs a less talented team, at home, with our season/bowl hopes on the line.....vs a defense that by the 2nd qtr didn't have a single starter left in their secondary.

We couldn't line up and get a single yard to close the game out, couldn't stop them from getting a single yard to close the game out. There have been some other very bad, very embarrassing losses by the program over the years....that loss to Vandy ranks right up there IMHO.

I'll remember this when that GT flexbone has rolled up a couple hundred on the ground and the game is tight in the 3rd quarter

That's fine. Result on the scoreboard will still be the same. They suck and they know it. And it's the triple option actually. They have won one time in the last 13 years. Last year was in the ghetto with Mason starting his first game ever, we had to go to overtime to win (the QB they had that game did all the damage and he quit the program) and they still couldn't pull out a win.

BTW, that 4-0 tech team nearly lost to Ga Southern and the only decent team they have played is VaTech

None of that is gonna matter after we beat your little puppy dawg asses on Saturday.

Could be worse. You could've married a Gator. I speak from experience.

I married gal from Michigan who's family moved to Miami, and she went to USF but her parents and a sister settled in Gainesville.

She's a Wolverines Dolphins Bulls Gators fan. ...

A Wolphinulltor ...

There be monsters! really

Hey everyone! Been following your threads for several years, and couldn't resist the urge to chime in anymore! I don't know what I was thinking, but I married a Georgia fan last year... :) He has been incredibly smug walking around the house this week and it's making me crazy! Here's to hoping to I have something to brag about on the ride back from Athens! Everyone have a great time this weekend! Go Vols!

I married a Vandy Grad. I will never forgive myself.

They brought a very fired up team at home in front of 90,000 geeked up fans, and we had a TD called back on a phantom holding call (acknowledged), and 3 uncharacteristically missed FGs. I guess the TN wins all of those kinds of games. We'll see Sat. Bring your A game.

I hope we bring our A game, and GA brings thier C game

Go Vols

Luckily, my husband works in athletics at Georgia State, so he is usually gone on Saturdays traveling with their football team. He called and asked me if he needed to sleep in his office after the game last year. I said "yes", but he thought I was kidding... It wasn't pretty when he got home.

Triple option is a concept. Flexbone the formation that Ga Tech runs their triple option out of. Your correction made no sense.
