South Carolina week is here. I hope to see some of you on campus Saturday. GBO!

-The night game at Neyland atmosphere is what makes me nervous. This could very well be the game where Rattler gets sacked over and over and the noise becomes too much.

-We have a history of doing dumb stuff in Neyland, that scares me.

-I’ve watched Tennessee this year, they’re not nearly as good as they’re made out to be. We should honestly get an easy victory.

-If Rattler can constantly get some time in the pocket, we should torch their secondary.

-I’m nervous. It’s Neyland at night and those hillbillies will be alcohol fueled.

-We struggled against Miss State. This game might be close for a little while but this doomsday mindset of mine says Vols in a blowout.

-This game will really make or break our season. I think we escape by the skin of our teeth and the hillbillies go home sad.

-It’s going to be a sellout and it’s going to be louder than anyone can imagine. Can Beamer and the boys handle it? We’ll find out soon.

-This game is going to go one of two ways. We’ll either come out and set the tone and keep the tone or Tennessee is going to come out full of piss and vinegar and give us the beating of a lifetime for last year.

-I’ve seen many other SEC fans call Rattler the best QB this year. Can he rise to the occasion and become great? If he doesn’t, this fan base will turn on him in an instant.

-It’s Knoxville at night, it’ll be sold out, unfortunately we lose this one guys.

-I would feel a lot more comfortable if this game was at home.

-I was really jubilant last year when we beat them like the trash that they are, but now I am dreading it.

-Tennessee is as overrated as Colorado. Let’s just go in there and take care of business like we know we can. Georgia was our toughest test of the season and we almost beat them.

-The formula to defeating Tennessee is as simple as stopping a couple of their drives and then scoring on our drives. Florida proved that. Heupel will be out of there in two years when the fan base turns on him.

-I trust Beamer on most occasions, but I do not trust Beamer on a stage like this. You can attack me or whatever, but Tennessee is favored by 11.5 for a reason.

-Utrash’s defense is as suspect as they come. Rattler will need a little time but I fully expect Rattler to throw for about 400 yards and we hang 50 on them.

-This game is a pivotal turning point for both teams seasons. The question will be answered of who wants it more. If we lose, we’re done in the East. If they lose, they’re done in the East.

-This is a rivalry and it always has been. I fear that Joe Milton will have a coming out party though.

-The crowd will obviously be majority Tennessee and they are going to break a sound barrier. I hope we get well prepared this week.

-A night kickoff in Neyland after 12 hours of alcohol flowing at tailgates is a recipe for disaster for us. We better be ready.

-They’ll be tailgating early for this one and they’ll be ready to make our play calling miserable.

-This is a fan base and team that has been waiting for this game. It’s been marked on their calendars. Rattler better learn really quick how to play in that hostile environment. I don’t feel good about this one at all. Georgia’s stadium doesn’t have **** on Neyland.

-I hate everything about Tennessee. I think their colors are puke worthy, their campus is absolute garbage, and Neyland is a tin bucket full of ****. We win by two touchdowns. Mark it down.

-The defense certainly won’t win this game. The offense is going to have to take control and try to walk away with it.

-I’m not going to be able to get a thing done at work all week. I’ll be at the game Saturday, y’all pray from me.

-I’ve got this overwhelming fear that Tennessee is going to blow us out and everyone is going to turn on Beamer.

As much as i agree with this, i feel like both fanbases are on the same feels about their teams. We dont know what to expect and our weaknesses make us nervous about the other teams capabilities of exposing said weakness.

Some good comments. Some homer comments. Then some pretty delusional comments... like the one about UT's D.

I've made no secret that I still do not trust Banks' scheming and playcalling ability. Just don't. I think it took him much too long to adjust vs UF. And if you are going to pressure then once in a while you have to jump short routes. If you don't, good QBs (or even guys like Mertz) will pick you apart.

That said, UT is 6th in the SEC in scoring D at 17.3... USCe is 12th at 26.5.

UT leads the SEC in sacks and TFLs. USCe is 11th in sacks and last in TFLs. That gets even more interesting when you consider that USCe is last in sacks and TFLs allowed while UT is 2nd in TFLs allowed and 3rd in sacks allowed

While the avg yds allowed are similar, UT is a better run D against good opponents.

UT's often maligned pass D is 4th in the SEC allowing 191 ypg. USCe is again dead last allowing 317.

UT is 6th in total D with 302 ypg. USCe is last at 432 ypg.

There is a discrepancy in the level of opposition. USCe got dominated worse than the score by a good (not great) UNC team. They were beaten by UGA in a game not as close as the score as USCe managed only 309 yds while allowing 459. They beat up on FCS Furman and then beat MSU... who is probably the worst team in the West this year.

If this goes like I think it will then we might be tempted to be more impressed with the Vols than we really should be. You have to give Rattler his due but they don't have a lot around him.

Our secondary better get good quick or SC will toast us like Fla did.
Banks has to have them play more physical at the LOS. He has to take some risks that someone might hit a long shot when the Vols bring pressure. Too often UT blitzes only to have the opposing QB hit a short route with a DB giving 5-10 yds of cushion off the LOS.

And once in a while... you have to blitz and jump a short route. You have to make them pay for those check read slants and hitches.

A lot of people are quick to throw the players or position coach under the bus. This is a problem with how Banks chooses to defend short throws.

I lived in Columbia six years and I didn't even know they had a campus. It's all mixed in with the rest of the crappy town. They play basketball in something in the middle of downtown that looks like the coliseum, and their stupid football stadium is on the state fairgrounds. They fancy themselves our rivals...I don't think we would ever consider them that. They have no tradition and very little history of any note.

Definitely a discrepancy in opposition when they’ve played 2 top 15-20 teams and we’ve played an FCS team and one that deserves to be right now (UVA).

Was looking for this comment. Lived in Columbia a couple years and the comment about our campus being garbage is RICH. SC's campus is spread across a railroad that will delay you seemingly an infinite amount of times per day. And their stadium is a barren wasteland fairgrounds with nothing but industrial park and a Bojangles around it (no hate on the Bojangles tho). Hell, I've seen prisons that make their engineering building look like maximum security. Don't get me started on the town itself. Rant over, but what a statement lol.

The university Of South Carolina Football is the epitome of Mid. They have no tradition. They have no prestige. it took one of the best SEC coaches in the history of the conference to go there during his twilight years and even then the best he could accomplish at that trash heap was ONE NY6 bowl and their only other NY6 bowl in which they lost to Jimbo Fisher and their only other NY6 bowl appearance was also a Peach bowl in the 60s they lost.

Tulane has more SEC championship years than USCjr
Georgia Tech has more SEC and ACC championships than USCjr.

Their trash program in their trash town in their trash stadium will never remain relevant and they know it.

Great analysis.

Is Hadden still starting? Yes? We'll lose by two scores at least. JMO

Be specific and cite plays that prove Hadden has made those kinds of mistakes. I've said elsewhere that I would have benched him for that poor tackle vs UF. But in coverage he's done more good than bad. He needs to be put in a position to succeed. He is athletic and a "high risk" sort of guy. You need to give him a chance to play "free" and aggressive. He's not your guy for playing back

That’s not his philosophy. He wants to bend not break.
